Angela Friedman has been on my radar for years,
and if the lingerie goddesses believe in any kind of justice, this will be the collection
that puts her on everyone else’s lust list as well. I am so excited to show these photos
because this is the collection that made me declare Angela Friedman the best luxury lingerie
brand of 2013.
Every lingerie addict knows that the editorial is only part of the story. The photos give you a
sense of what the pieces look like and how they might fit into your lifestyle, but the things
that transform lingerie into an experience of true lingerie are really hard to convey via
photograph. I saw these pieces in person during last season’s lingerie
market, and they are exquisite. The fabric…the stitching…every little
detail is in place, and it’s all perfect. And,
like everything else Angela Friedman designs, each piece can custom made specifically for you
in your unique measurements (though, of course, wholesale orders in standardized sizing are
available for boutiques too).
I really can’t say enough good things about this line. I think it represents a huge leap forward
for the designer and, without question, quite firmly places Angela Friedman into the upper
echelons of luxury lingerie…both in terms of construction and aesthetic. There are pieces
here that I think would be at home in any
lingerie boutique or even a high-end department store. Like I said, if the lingerie goddesses
are watching, this year will be Angela Friedman’s year.

to the corsets, but I also think that long sheer gown is divine. I’m wearing it in my head on my

Wins Top Gold Award for Women in Business - Entrepreneur of the Year -
Consumer Products and Silver Award - Innovator of the Year
Cass and Company Founder/President Susan Ledyard has been named the top Gold Award Winner as Entrepreneur of
the Year – Consumer Products. The Award – The Stevie Award for Women In Business - was given
out at a gala dinner in New York City on November 8.
Susan Ledyard also won in a second prized category – Innovator of the Year. The Stevie
Award is one of the top three national/international awards given
specifically to women in business.
Cass and Company – also known as Cass Luxury Shapewear – is a leader in luxury shapewear.
The company was founded nine years ago after Susan Ledyard had given birth to two children
and was unable to find quality shapewear. She chose to create the products herself. $50
million in retail sales later, she is considered an innovation leader in shaping
tops, bottoms, dresses, hosiery and accessories.
Ledyard was honored for her innovative role in shapewear, an $812 billion business (2011)
with fewer women than men at the top, since July 1, 2012. These innovations include adding
copper to shapewear - an industry innovation - against a chorus of criticism and skepticism.
Ledyard saw the benefits herself - enhanced skin tone, texture, reduced wrinkles and the
providing of anti-bacterial protection. Cass and Co. is now in the process of incorporating

"zero gasp factor"; "Lucky Back" – shapewear that prevents slouching and rounded shoulders;
and what could just be the first shaping top for larger women that doesn't dig into healthy
tissue at all. Madonna wore Cass on her most recent tour. The superstar asked Ledyard to
design styles for the tour, including for her dancers. How else to wear shapewear and also
move around easily as well as have the shapewear function equally well as outerwear,
an already well-known Ledyard innovation.
Ledyard was also honored because she went against the industry requirement of a New York
City showroom (and apartment) and chose instead to spend more time with her family and
to build a business compound on farmland in the wilds of Pennsylvania. "I worried the
change would affect my business relationships and stores would no longer work with me," says
Ledyard. "Results were the opposite because my employees are so much more relaxed."
Productivity has tripled; gross margins
The entrepreneurial award is one of three awards given in the category based on company
size; Ledyard's honor is for companies with "10 or less employees." The Innovator of the
Year Award is given in three categories: Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations and
Business Services; Health Products and Services; and Ledyard's impressive category -
"All Other Industries." The Award was given out at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York

In 1972, the adult novelty manufacturer Topco Sales was born. This family-owned company grew from 50 to 500 employees, from a small warehouse to the largest manufacturing base in the industry, from selling only a book to becoming one of the largest sex toy manufacturers on the planet. And then, through a series of unfortunate events, Topco found themselves at the bottom of it.
“In the late 2000s, we (Topco) were hit by not one, not two, but at least five unexpected, catastrophic events that caused us to have a hiccup in our supply chain,” explains Mike Siegel, the COO of Topco. “We were no longer able to supply 100% of our products. Our fill rate went from 80% to just under 50% in 2011. We were placed in a position where we were struggling to fill orders, which affected both our distributors and the stores immediately. Topco Sales suffered events which could easily wipe a lesser company straight out of business.”
...In spite of the tragic effects Topco’s situation imposed on not only themselves but their distributors and customers as well, they continually remained honest with their customers about what was going on, and in return received immense support despite the shelf space the company was unable to fill.”
“We have customers who have stood behind us 100% because they love our products, they love our packaging and they still see us as one of the greatest manufacturers of high-quality, top-selling products,” says Mort. “Even though we could’ve cost them money, they are still on board with us, and that is so incredibly humbling to know they stand so strongly behind us.”
