New Garment Factory
in Bangladesh
Korean company M/s Coba Fashions and Apparel is to spend US$2m on a
new garment making plant in Dhaka Export Processing Zone.
M/s Coba Fashions and Apparel company will make about 1.8m items, including trousers, jackets, tracksuits, jerseys and T-shirts,
annually. The factory will reportedly open up 853 new jobs.

Pantyhose Reduces Cellulite
An Australian lingerie manufacturer is putting caffeine in pantyhose to burn off cellulite. The company, Palmers, says droplets rub off on the skin boosting metabolism and burning fat.
Britain's largest online pantyhose store Tightsplease is the only company offering the Slim Fit 20 pantyhose.
Does it work? The seller says sales are huge, despite the price, 50-dollars for three pair. Plus, the caffeine only lasts through about four washes.

Frenchwomen Spend
20% Annual Clothing
Budget on Lingerie
A study by the French Fashion Institute stated that Frenchwomen spend
nearly 20% of their annual clothing budget on lingerie, pushing overall sales of the flimsy undergarments to EUR 2.6 billion.
The report showed that the lingerie segment of the clothing sector grew 1.3% last year compared to 2004, with a Frenchwoman
spending, on average, some EUR 100 a year on bras, panties, stockings and other intimate apparel.
Revenues from so-called daywear lingerie ( more 'practical' underwear) were still recovering after a significant drop in 2004 caused by a flood of cheaper garments from low-cost countries such as China and Turkey.
The institute said 2005 showed a leveling off of the trend, with the study adding: "We even observed an average price rise in the
purchase of panties."
The more exotic end of the market — frilly knickers, teddies, garters and the like — was showing signs of succumbing to the
price competition, however, after having been spared in 2004, the institute said.

Dim to Cut 450 Jobs
French lingerie and hosiery specialist Dim is set to axe 450 jobs,
close to 20% of its global workforce.
The firm, which also manufactures the Playtex brand, had been braced for the cutbacks since mid August when it was informed by
parent company Dim Branded Apparel (DBApparel) of plans to shed 950 jobs in Europe by the end of 2007.
Dim’s production plant in Château-Chinon, which makes stockings and tights and employs 95 staff, will be closed. The biggest of its
four plants, in Autun, will shed 220 staff while there will also an unspecified number of job cuts at Playtex which employs a
315-strong workforce in France.
A union official said that 250 of Dim’s staff could benefit from early retirement measures but this figure has not been confirmed by the management.
DB Apparel employs a total of 6,500 staff in Europe and 12,000
worldwide. It has around 1,000 staff in Spain and also has
production activities in Italy and the UK.

A Blonde Guy Joke
An Irishman, a Mexican and a Blonde Guy were doing
construction work on scaffolding on the 20th floor of a building.
They were eating lunch and the Irishman said, "Corned beef and cabbage! If I get corned beef and cabbage one more time for lunch, I'm going to jump off this building."
The Mexican! opened his lunch box and exclaimed, "Burritos again! If I get burritos one more time I'm going to jump off, too."
The blonde opened his lunch a! nod said, "Bologna again! If I get a bologna sandwich one more time, I'm jumping too."
The next day, the Irishman opened his lunch box, saw corned beef and cabbage, and jumped to his death.
The Mexican opened his lunch, saw a burrito & jumped, too.
The blonde guy opened his lunch, saw the bologna and jumped to his death as well.
At the funeral, the Irishman's wife was weeping. She said, "If I'd known how really tired he was of corned beef and Cabbage, I never would have given it to him again!"
The Mexican's wife also wept & said, "I could have given him tacos or enchiladas! I didn't realize he hated burritos so much."
Everyone turned and stared at the blonde's wife. The blonde's wife said,
"Don't look at me. He makes his own lunch!"

The Irish singer, 23, has agreed to a second stint ' promoting the Per Amore brand, designed by Scot Michelle and available
