Corsets 4 Cancer Calendar
Images of women who have suffered breast cancer have been pictured in a new charity calendar. Dressed in vintage lingerie and corsets, the inspirational group posed as 1940s and 1950s starlets.
The pictures for the Corsets 4 Cancer calendar were taken by Pamela Shomer and is intended to give encouragement to others.
All of the women who were photographed are women who were affected by breast cancer.
The women are dressed in vintage corsets and silk lingerie, in the 1940s and 1950s pin-up style, "to promote a promote a positive body image and give hope to others."
Each month features the photo and story of a different woman who contracted the disease.
Liz Harte, 40, an executive PA from Muswell Hill, who is Miss July, had a breast removed in May 2002. She said: "There is no reason with the operations these days why women cannot look really good."
Although 11 of the women survived cancer, Jacqui Blood, 39, from Co Wicklow, Ireland, died last December before the calendar was finished.
A spokeswoman for the group said: "As well as raising funds and raising awareness, these ladies have modeled in vintage corsets and lingerie to give hope and encouragement to others who have had treatment and surgery for breast cancer."

Hawaii's Annual Underwear
                    Run
Some 100 runners wearing nothing but their skivvies turned out Thursday for the Underpants Run in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, a fun run that has become an annual event in the days leading up to the Ironman World Championship.
Some of the international athletes who come to Hawaii to train in and around the village for the race in the week before the event sparked the idea for the fun run, which began with three people in 1997.
"It was a reaction to the abhorrent and unbelievable practice of wearing Speedos around town, in the post office, the grocery store, even restaurants," one man said. "It's just a clash of the cultures, between the more conservative Americans and the whole European and Mediterranean resort vacation thing."
After taking a pledge not to wear racing Speedos for anything other than swimming, the runners took off to Kailua Pier for a quick round of calisthenics and then continued along Alii Drive.
Some runners sported their best Calvin Klein or Banana Republic undies. Others were more creative - grass skirts, coconut bras, black and yellow Joe Boxers, even the layered look with bright white Hanes peeking out from under a colorful thong.
T-shirts are sold, printed with the phrase "I see London, I see France, No, it's your underpants," for $20 each, with the proceeds benefiting West Hawaii Special Olympics.
As the runners went through their warm-ups at the pier, several Speedo-clad tri-athletes looked on, fully aware that their attire was the butt of the day's joke.
