Tommy Hilfiger To Axe
135 U.S. Workers
Luxury goods company Tommy Hilfiger Corporation is axing about 135
US employees to cut costs within its US wholesale business.
Hilfiger, which has about 6,000 employees worldwide, has previously cited a need to strive for better financial performance in the US
wholesale unit through product initiatives and cost reductions.
The financial impact of the job cuts on the current financial year is expected to be neutral.

Shoppers Upset Over Suggestive
Victoria's Secret Displays
Shoppers are getting their panties in a twist over racy marketing again. And
this time, appropriately enough, the outrage is over lingerie.
Victoria's Secret stores in Virginia and Wisconsin are targets of the latest
clothing controversy. Local residents are railing against scantily clad - and
provocatively posed - mannequins: women on all fours, others intertwined on
a bed, still others in garters.
It's another round in the cycle: Retailers get up raunchy because they want to be edgy. Concerned shoppers react with neighborhood meetings and protests, and the company tones things down. (Remember the now-defunct Abercrombie & Fitch catalog that showed topless models?)
Concessions have meant, among other changes, straightening up and flipping
around a thong-wearing mannequin whose largely bare derriere had greeted passersby. (Opponents are still not satisfied preparing a second protest.)
What makes this episode interesting is that Victoria's Secret is straining the seams in a fashion climate that's more about modesty: Bodies are largely shrouded this season by demure, ladylike looks.
Meanwhile, other outfits are continuing to embrace the extreme this season. Diesel's ad campaign celebrates "the world of individual hedonistic pleasure pursuits"; one shot features women with whips. Hipster chain American
Apparel has soft core-styled ads including a tight focus on barely-covered backsides of women.
It's unclear how many Victoria's Secret stores have staged the display, as well
as how many the company planned to unveil.
Some mall customers don't see what the fuss is all about, either. One patron calls the controversy "ludicrous ... Is someone supposed to find that sexy? It is not a real woman."

Celebrity Friends Stand
by Moss
Designer Alexander McQueen showed his support for Kate Moss at his fashion show.
Respected British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has publicly declared
his support for troubled supermodel Kate Moss at the presentation of his spring/summer 2006 ready-to-wear fashion collection in Paris.
Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the logo "We love you Kate", the designer
has joined a growing throng of high-profile people to defend Moss.
Moss, the face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume since 2002, has been dropped by British fashion label Burberry and Swedish retailer H & M after
the Daily Mirror newspaper ran pictures of her snorting cocaine.
McQueen is not the only one to have lent his support to the 31-year-old model, who is worth an estimated $39 million.
British pop star Robbie Williams said Moss was being unfairly attacked.
"It wouldn't have surprised me if she had tried to commit suicide the week
after everything hit the papers," Williams said at the launch of his new album in Berlin.
"We're talking about a woman who has never harmed anyone or hurt anyone and who has never pretended to be anyone she isn't.
"She's done nothing wrong. What she does in her private life should be her
private life. She is an absolute icon, she's beautiful. Every time I have met her
she has been really lovely to me."
Up market fashion magazine W has also announced its support for Moss, running her as the cover girl of its November edition.
Moss, who was booked for the issue well before the scandal broke, has had a long relationship with the magazine, appearing on more covers by far than any other model or actress.
A spokesperson for Moss's London agency, Storm, said: "We are delighted and grateful for W's support for Kate through their photo coverage and commitment and also through their public message of loyalty."
Actress Sharon Stone has also defended Moss, saying she should be applauded for seeking help for her drug problem.
British newspapers reported that Moss had checked into the Meadows rehab clinic in Arizona.

Macpherson's New Campaign
Turns Heads
Billboards, featuring images from the latest Elle Macpherson Intimates
campaign, were unveiled earlier this month along the Long Island Expressway.

Elle Macpherson made a personal appearance on the Today Show in New York to talk about the new campaign.
Along with the billboards, 200,000 copies of a custom-made Elle Macpherson Intimates newspaper - the Intimate Times - were distributed on the streets of New York and at Fashion Week.
Phone kiosks, wall posting and exquisite shop window displays were also unveiled in central Manhattan.
Several celebrities, including Damien Hirst, Sir Elton John, Matt Ford, Sandra
Bernhard and Tracey Emin, have donated writings to the campaign, which have been bound into an anthology.

Cortefiel To Be Sold?
Private equity companies CVC, PAI and Permira are planning to sell of the
property assets of textiles and clothing group Cortefiel, according to media
reports.
A sale of the assets – the proceeds of which will reportedly be used to pay
back debt – could make more than €220 million.
If the sale goes ahead, it will include Cortefiel’s Madrid headquarters, about
254 parcels of land owned throughout Spain, and two plots in Madrid that were planned to be used for a logistics base.
CVC, PAI and Permira have received the 74% shareholder acceptance needed to complete their acquisition of Cortefiel, closing a deal originally put
forward in June.

Hi,
I have been unable to locate the manufacturers for QT Intimates, Spade, and Mopas. I especially need new
manufacturers for good quality bras and intimate apparel at the lower end of the price range. I
hope someone can provide me with the information to contact these suppliers. I would also like to
hear from other manufacturers about their product lines. Please contact me at
morris@imalady.com, or call 706-624-0635.
Thank you,
Wesley Jackson
I have been searching for cupped (eg A Cup to D Cuup etc) swimwear lines that come padded,
