Charlotte Church Loves Wearing Big Underwear
Charlotte Church says she loves wearing big knickers.
The singer-turned-chat show host was quick to leap to the defense of her big knickers after they were spotted by keen-eyed paparazzi.
"I've got the biggest, fattest control pants in the world - if these don't work, nothing will," she admitted.
Even What Not To Wear expert Susannah Constantine approves of Charlotte's choice: "They give you a neat line from the waistline to halfway along the thighs.
"It redistributes the weight of the thighs so they look so much slimmer," she said.

Models to Produce
Medical Certificate
One of the world's top fashion cities has jumped on the "too-skinny model" bandwagon by requiring models to produce a medical certificate proving they are in good health before they hit the catwalk.
Guido Dolci, president of Associazione Servizi Moda, the body which represents the top model agencies, announced the new code of conduct during Milan Fashion Week.
"The association will require all models to produce a medical certificate and, if they are minors, they must show a school certificate and be accompanied by an
authorized tutor or a parent," he said.
But the move has been regarded as a "symbolic measure" with Milan agencies in no hurry to impose the strict body mass index rules introduced at Madrid Fashion Week.
Madrid's BMI of 18 rule prevented stick-thin models from participating, however, Milan's new code will not stop agencies from using anorexic looking models as long as they have the right pieces of paper.
Chamber of Commerce for Fashion Mario Boselli weighed into the debate saying thinness was not an Italian problem.
"In the Bel Paese, the cadaverously thin had their moment of fame five years ago and that was it," he said.
"Food, fashion and furniture are Italy's three strong points, and food is the first of these. Don't forget that we also export a certain style of life. Our models have no need of regulation. And for their part the designers are of the same view, they don't want to send out models who are suffering."

Fruit of the Loom Exec
Charged
A former executive for Fruit of the Loom has been charged with hiring friends to do work that was never performed.
Six people have been indicted on charges of conspiracy to defraud the underwear and apparel maker.
A federal grand jury in Bowling Green returned indictments against Kalen Watkins who was the Environmental Director for the Bowling Green headquarters, as well as Laura Leigh Wells of Lexington, Kenneth Scott Harris of Euless, Texas, Curtis Hopkins of Corbin, Kentucky, Ronald Pollock also of Bowling Green and Tyrone Tackett of Pensacola, Florida.
Watkins' position gave him power to award contracts and approve payment for invoices submitted by Fruit of the Loom contractors.
The indictment alleges that between May 1, 1998 and September 13, 2003, Watkins hired companies owned by his co-conspirators to perform services for fruit of the loom and approved fraudulent invoices submitted by those companies.
It also states that the five co-conspirators paid Watkins hundreds of thousands of dollars in kickbacks in return for Fruit of the Loom business.
Watkins, Hopkins, Pollock, and Tackett are also being charged with money laundering.
Watkins is also facing charges for obstruction of justice and fabricating documents in response to Grand jury subpoena.

More Protests in Bangladesh
Garment workers in the Shewrapara area of Dhaka have been barricading roads
in protest against factory closures.
Authorities shut down the TS Sweater and Perfect Garments plants at the end
of September after paying workers overdue wages.
The workers from the two factories, which are both owned by the same company, blocked the road in front of the plants causing traffic to come to
a standstill.

Saks Gets a Makeover
After struggling with the wrong fashion formula that skewed too young, Saks Fifth Avenue wants to reclaim its status among the well-heeled with a makeover.
The store chain's new management is rebuilding its store label fashions, investing in classic brands like Ellen Tracy and better tailoring its stores to meet specific markets. The shift is reflected in a new fall ad campaign that embraces a broader approach to fashion, highlighting more than 20 different must-haves, from fur-trimmed coats for women to rugged sport boots for men.
Saks made a big mistake of chasing young customers with tight clothing, turning off its loyal customer in their forties. The 1998 merger with a mid-brow department store operator also proved to be the wrong fit, resulting in disappointing earnings.
Having focused too much on its Fifth Avenue flagship, Saks now is renovating its regional outposts, including its Boston and Beverly Hills locations, to feature open cosmetic counters and more exciting fashion displays. Saks' Atlanta store, renovated last year, is serving as a model.
"This is step one in a multi-step process," said Ron Frasch, vice chairman and chief merchant at Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises. "But we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You will see a good fall, and it will continue through next year."
Saks executives say a cultural change is sweeping the company, with buyers taking bigger risks on fashion instead of playing it safe and fixating on inventory control.
Still, Saks Fifth Avenue, which has long lagged behind its rivals, faces heavy competition at the upper end from Neiman Marcus Inc., whose name is synonymous with luxury shopping, and at the lower luxury tier from Nordstrom Inc.
"Saks is facing a competitive situation where both Neiman and Nordstrom are doing extremely well. The issue is how successful will (Saks) be in executing from a merchandising and service standpoint," said Michael Appel, managing director of Quest Turnaround Advisors LLC.

Blonde Joke
This blonde decides one day that she is sick and tired of all these blonde jokes and how all blondes are perceived as stupid. So, she decides to show her husband that blondes really are smart.
While her husband is off at work, she decides that she is going to paint a couple of rooms in the house.
The next day, right after her husband leaves for work, she gets down to the task at hand.
Her husband arrives home at 5:30 and smells the distinctive smell of paint. He walks into the living room and finds his wife lying on the floor in a pool of sweat. He notices that she is wearing a heavy parka and a leather jacket at the same time.
He goes over and asks her if she is OK. She replies yes. He asks what she is doing and she replies that she wanted to prove to him that not all blonde women are dumb, and she wanted to do it, by painting the house. He then asks her why she has a parka over her leather jacket. She replied that she was reading the directions on the paint can and it said . . .
