Addressing the dress code
As teens eagerly don the latest in flesh-baring fashion, schools are finding themselves in the unenviable position of having to regulate how students dress, right down to the number of straps on a tank top.
While school dress codes have remained fairly effective when it comes to limiting gang paraphernalia and what teen-age boys wear -- for almost a decade now schools have been trying to keep boys' pants waists above their knees -- teen-age girls continue to push the limits of what's permitted.

Stella McCartney Debuts Fashions
PARIS –– Stella McCartney clearly had fun making her first collection under her own label, backed by Gucci. The Monday show of spring ready-to-wear at a warehouse near Paris' Pompidou Center was swinging with cockney-rhyming embroideries, monkey motifs, pelvis-high hot pants and miniskirts.
Stella's dad, former Beatle Paul, was in the audience with his fiancee, Heather, and both looked amused by the show.
As news from Afghanistan beamed to the world, designers like McCartney held to optimistic messages that were dreamed up weeks or months ago.
Stella took recent events into consideration, dedicating the show not only to her family but to "those touched by the tragedy of Sept. 11."
Among contrasts in the show were her Savile Row-style tailoring in some jackets over lace outfits, which clashed with lingerie-style two-piece boudoir ensembles or clingy orange T-shirt dresses.
McCartney's runway featured items like a royal blue satin jacket over lace pants or a tiny T-shirt adorned with the words "slippery when wet".

DONNA Karan  thought about quitting the fashion business after the World Trade Center attack. "I thought about so many things. Should I give up? There are other things to do out there, but I realize that now is not the time," Karan told Elsa Klensch in an interview airing today on the Trio cable channel. "Now is the time to try to figure out how we can help and make this a better place.
We've got our job to do."

Paris Fashion Show
British designer Alexander McQueen got hot and heavy last week with a ready-to-wear collection that put flamenco ruffles through the shredder and gave bullfighting a sinister new twist.
The display on the second day of the Paris spring-summer fashion shows, titled ``El baile del toro retorcido'' (``The dance of the kinky bull''), was a celebration of all things Spanish -- which, in McQueen's mind, meant oodles of sex.
Models emerged from behind a curtain of smoke wrapped in skin-tight dresses and bodysuits scooped at the shoulders and loins to reveal acres of flesh and more than a flash of breast.
``It's romantic and it's hot sex,'' the designer told reporters backstage. ``That's what makes the world go around and it's what sells clothes too.''
Red and black polka-dot chiffon was worked into airy asymmetrical skirts with matching tights, while a black bolero jacket with shoulders encrusted in black jet beads drew inspiration from a matador's ``suit of lights''.

Some 2,000 people stretch out in the nude on a street to pose for a photograph by New York photographer Spencer Tunick, in this May 26, 2001, file photo in Montreal. Another 2,000 are expected to strip for Tunick in the chilly streets of Melbourne, Australia, at a secret location at dawn on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001. The "human sculpture'' is part of his Nude Adrift series that will take him to every continent.

Triumph Opens $9.6 Million Lingerie Plant
German lingerie maker Triumph International has opened a new 2.7 billion forints ($9.64 million) manufacturing and logistics facility in Dunaujvaros, south of Budapest, which will create 370 new jobs.
The factory will be operated by Body Fashion Kft, a fully-owned subsidiary of Triumph, and will produce women's underwear, including bras, bodysuits, briefs and slips.
The new plant, which has facilities to complete the entire production cycle from design through to the end-product, will cater for both the eastern and western European markets and will replace some of the processes carried out at Triumph's factory in Heubach, Germany.

                   "Great Buns?"
Wonderbras have been boosting breasts for decades. Now it's time for bums everywhere to enjoy the same lift.
Fabric designer Dupont, the genius behind Lycra, is introducing the Wonderbum, tights that promise to "lift, shape and separate ... in a similar fashion to the Wonderbra."
Though the new technology, revealed today at a showcase of the latest hosiery from British manufacturers, is only at the prototype stage, it could be in stores by next year.
Varsha Peshavaria, marketing manager for Dupont Lycra, even boasted that the tights could provide an alternative to plastic surgery and are fashioned from a fabric that can stretch to as much as seven times its normal length. "Women do not need to have cosmetic surgery when they can have garments that can give them the shape they want," she explained.
Peshavaria also made it clear that the brand wants to disassociate itself from the stigma of dowdy pantyhose. "A lot of people see hosiery as something that their grandmother wears - we don't want to be associated with old-fashioned products. These tights help to left up the bum and allow the cheeks to express themselves."

I am looking toget in touch with Dallas Heights Shoes. Anyone out there that can help, I would appreciate it. thanks,
Fran Laufer Intimate Avenue Intimateavenue@aol.com

I found your site to be very informative! Thanks for your compilation of shows. I just moved to Arizona from Florida (where I always attended the Miami Mart shows). I did not notice anything on your list for the Phoenix area? Would you know of anything, or how I could find something? In such a large metro area, I would think there would be something for women's apparel. Any information you could give me would be appreciated. Many thanks- Deborah Haling

Might you know where I might go about finding this information out, or do you yourself have contact info for these brands?
I am a retailer of erotic and exotic footwear and lingerie, and I would love to add these lines to our company. Any help is greatly appreciated!  Many Thanks in Advance,  -Guen Palmatier

    OUCH! Section
Please leave out any further political commentary in your newsletter. It is blatantly offensive, especially during this period in our American history. Using your apparel related newsletter to further your own political agenda is taking advantage of a situation that has brought anguish to so many.
and p.s. - With all the images of partially clad women and the sexual innuendo that appears throughout your pages, I believe it quite hypocritical of you to throw stones at others. Shame, shame, shame.
Suzanne Childers...

Dear Friends at McPete Sez:
Let me first say that I appreciate your free newsletter and all the
newsworthy articles and information you include in each issue. And one of the best parts of this newsletter is that its free! Thanks!
Last issue included an article about Al Gore, Clinton, and the previous infamous cast of characters. Normally, I would just let it go and roll off my back, but I have to say that it really seems inappropriate in light of what's going on right now. It took some time for America to get over that election fiasco along with all the political posturing and the Democratic vs Republican bickering related to it...should we lose our focus again? Don't we have enough issues to talk and read about now that REALLY count? Gosh, I would even trade for those condenscending blonde (or were they redhead?) jokes in previous newletters over this type of editorial pop news ; )
Yes, you're entitled to your opinions... I hoping you'll kindly consider
giving that option towards political left/right a rest til we can all
truly laugh about it in earnest. In the meantime, I, along with my staff
and employees are working on trying to keep our business stable, writing orders instead of canceling them, and acting "normal" in these quite abnormal times.   Keep well, and writing....

The last word
O.K. O.K..  I guess that I deserve some of this, But I myself have voluntarily put 4 years of my life in the Naval Air force along with millions of other Patriotic Americans, so that those rich loudmouth entertainers ( who make megabucks portraying someone that they are not, on the Big screen,) can say that they would leave this country if George W.  was elected....  Well I for one would like to see them go... They should be on bended knee thanking the almighty that they were Born in the U.S.A..  Rather than talk that way because someone other than their candidate was chosen to lead our country.
They have made their fortunes on the American people, and have the ears of our Major Press to complain...
Now its MY TURN to complain in this dinky little newsletter.
I would love to know which country they would go to.
Besides, a promise is a promise.    McPete Sez
