Debenhams' FY Profit
Leaps 123%
Department store chain Debenhams has reported a 123% hike in annual
profit and said it is optimistic on future growth.
Full-year pre-tax profit totaled £238.6 million compared with £107.0m the year before, while trading profits rose 49% to £254.2m.
Net sales for the year grew 9.7% to £2.09 billion, with UK department stores’ UK market share rising to 18.6% from 16.4% last
year. Same-store sales edged up 2.8%.
Debenhams, which was taken private by CVC Capital Partners, Texas Pacific Group and Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity in December
2003, stated it has "no definitive plans" to re-launch on the stock market.

Ann Summers' 'Peephole'
Changing Rooms
Lingerie retailer Ann Summers is set to cause a sensation in Belfast with the
launch of a new 'peephole' in its revamped store.
Partners or friends of potential customers will be able to watch them try on the
underwear through specially designed spyholes in the doors of the changing
rooms.
According to the head of Ann Summers, Jacqueline Gold, the peepshow changing rooms are naughty and fun and are poised to be one of the main
attractions in the refurbished stores.
Ms Gold, who was in Belfast this week to visit the new store, said she believed the concept would catch on in the city.
"From a practical point of view, it's nice to let your partner have a little peek without you having to come out of the changing room."
And she urged people not to have any preconceived ideas about the peepholes.
She said: "I would ask anyone not to make a judgment until they've come in.
"The store is beautiful and totally unthreatening."
Ms Gold said the multi-million pound revamp was aimed at making the stores more comfortable and appealing to customers.
The peephole is set to be rolled out to 30 of the 124 stores in overhaul.

M&S Expands in Ireland
British retailer Marks and Spencer is splashing out €33 million on an Irish
expansion program.
M&S, which has been operating on the Irish market for 40 years, is opening two new stores in Newbridge, County Kildare, and
Newtownabbey, North East Belfast.
The company is also to redevelop an existing store in Sprucefield, near
Lisburn, one of its 23 locations in Ireland.
M&S has already opened ten new stores on the Irish market since 2003, opening up 1,500 jobs there.

Website Marketing Tip: Of all the internet marketing strategies and secrets to success online, their are few more important tasks than getting good listings on the top ten major search engines. My recommendation is to get your site listed on Google, Yahoo and either Alta Vista or Lycos at the very least. All of these require upfront fees to be placed on their listings and the sum can be fairly steep for the beginning website marketer, especially if you want to be listed on all of them and more. Usually in excess of $250.00 each.
Getting a site listed is fairly simple to do and can be done automatically with special software programs. However, some of these engines have certain rules and frown on auto submissions. Each one has its own criteria for a site to be submitted and if done improperly, it can hurt your listing more than help it. Some will even eliminate your submissions for "seemingly unimportant" or overlooked details and entries. It is best to take a little time yourself and manually submit them to each individual engine per criteria. This is where a little research into specific engines and what they're looking for is worth the effort. It's a little tricky, but it can be, and is done all the time. Those are the primary reasons that two sites retailing Shirley of Hollywood (example only) styles for the same amount are listed far different or not at all on a specific search engine.
Their is a little known, and largely overlooked secret to getting your site listed on these top search engines. Eventually, after doing this task which takes about 10 minutes of your time, if your site is properly finished, your site can "evolve" onto all of the top search engines for "FREE" over time. Forplay Hosts VIP Party
in Las Vegas

Forplay, a leading designer and manufacturer of top quality dancewear,
clubwear, lingerie, costumes, and swimwear, topped off it's showing at the Las Vegas International Lingerie Show by hosting a VIP party at the exclusive 40Duce Club at Mandalay Bay on October 10th. The party, which was co-sponsored by the Love Boutique and Ellie Shoes, saw some of the industries heavy-hitters including the top-management of Deja Vu, PeeKay, Body Zone, Body Magazine, and AVN. Attendees were treated to a "Live Mannequin" and "Burlesque" show into the early morning hours.

wholesale collection in September 2005. It was immediately snapped up by UK high street retailer Topshop who famous for cutting edge fashion. What
Katie Did revamp lingerie designs from the 1950's using original patterns and fabrics for an authentic look and feel: perfect for this seasons' stong tailoring. Their current collection includes bullet bras, suspender belts and French Knickers in black satin and powermesh along with 100% nylon seamed
stockings. February 2006 will see the release of their Spring/Summer 2006 range where the current collection will be available in new colour-combinations and be expanded to include longline bras and corslettes. A range of steel boned corsets will also be available.

CRAZY
I urgently needed a few days off work, but I knew the Boss would not allow me to take a leave.
I thought that maybe if I acted "CRAZY" then he would tell me to take a few days off.
So I hung upside down on the ceiling and made funny noises. My co-worker (who's blonde) asked me what I was doing? 
I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb so that the Boss would think I was "CRAZY" and give me a few days off.
A few minutes later the Boss came into the office and asked "What are you doing ?"
I told him I was a light bulb. He said "You are clearly stressed out. Go home
and recuperate for a couple of days".
I jumped down and walked out of the office.
When my co-worker (the blonde) followed me, the Boss asked her "
...And where do you think you're going?"
She responded, "I'm going home too, I can't work in the dark!"
