   Bernini beauties stripped of corsets
ROME - Restoration works in a Roman church have revealed two bare-breasted beauties designed by Bernini but hidden behind bronze "corsets" for more than 100 years, officials say.
The figures, representing truth and charity, were designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and sculpted with his assistants in the 1660s for the Baroque church of Sant'Isidoro, but later censored by religious leaders.
"The nudes were a bit too provocative for the Victorians, so they were covered with bronze corsets in 1863," Angela Negro, the director of restoration works at the church, told Reuters on Tuesday.
"We decided to bare all," she said.
The striptease revealed two white marble figures squeezing their breasts seductively.    "The surprise was that the original marble hadn't been damaged in any way," Negro said. "We have always seen these virtues covered and we were worried about what we would find underneath, but the nudes are in perfect condition."   The same was not true for a little marble cherub. After removing the loin cloth that had been added, restorers discovered his offending parts had been chipped off.
The works are part of a broader 50-million-euro restoration programme at Sant'Isidoro that includes deep cleaning of the elaborate marble statues and paintings

A Lingerie Maker Returns To Its Racier Past
By TRACIE ROZHON
Business/Financial Desk
Frederick's of Hollywood, the warhorse that made millions of dollars on risqué lingerie that tickled the fancy of gray-haired men, is coming back from bankruptcy with a new image intended to attract younger shoppers. Nearly killed off by permissive times and the competition, the company has switched its plain packaging to shiny Barbie pink and remodeled its stores with leopard carpeting and red velvet curtains, all in anticipation of a hearing on Nov. 6 before a bankruptcy judge. Linda LoRe, its chief executive, hopes to come out of Chapter 11 ready to restore the company -- which really is based in Hollywood -- to its rightful status as a spicier alternative to Victoria's Secret.

Woman Gets Probation For Selling Dirty Underwear
The former Clemson University student who was arrested in July and charged with selling soiled underwear and other items over the Internet will not go to prison.   Christine Vetter, 21, of Central, pleaded guilty to federal charges of mailing obscene and filthy items.
U.S. District Judge G. Ross Anderson sentenced Vetter to five years' probation.   Prosecutors said that Vetter operated a Web site and sold and mailed her soiled panties, used feminine hygiene products, unclean sex aids (news - web sites), and other items to more than 125 customers around the country.
Vetter graduated from Clemson in May with a degree in marketing.

City  To Shut Down 3 Lingerie Stores in Indianapolis
The city is asking a court to shut down three lingerie stores, alleging they are unlicensed nude modeling studios and are illegally offering adult entertainment within 500 feet of residential districts.
The office of Mayor Bart Peterson said Monday that undercover investigations determined some of the stores' employees undressed in front of customers in private booths.
The stores are: Banana Spilt, 3021 N. Lafayette Road; Leather & Lace 3094 N. Lafayette Road; and Silk Stockings, 3337 S. Madison Ave.
"Customers pay a fee to go into a private booth with a model. The model then appears in front of a customer in progressive states of undress until the model is -- in most cases -- completely nude or is wearing clothing that is so sheer, you can see through everything, and nothing is left to the imagination," city prosecutor Teri Kendrick said.
Businesses featuring adult entertainment must be licensed by the city controller, the mayor's office said in a press release. Also, adult entertainment businesses cannot be located within 500 feet of a church, school, park, historic preservation or dwelling district, according to the office.

Victoria's Secret is trying to keep its edge and protect its sales growth as older, bigger, more mass-market underwear makers jockey for a piece of its fashion lingerie turf. Brands such as Playtex, Fruit of the Loom and Hanes are adding trendier, more colorful and more daring skivvies to their lines.
Same-store sales for stores, which make for 50% of the brand's business, are up 7% since the start of the year. The remainder of sales, via catalogs and the Internet, are up about 6%.
The brand is No. 2 in bras, trailing mainstream market leader Hanes (a Sara Lee label, along with Playtex and Bali) and No. 3 in panties after Hanes and Fruit of the Loom, according to market tracker NPD.
It got there as a specialty brand by using supermodels to show off sassy styles at moderate prices and putting some energy in what had otherwise been a mundane market.

Inquiry's:
Dear Sir, I was recently visited your website. Good article.. it
 was interesting reading.
Sir, I am Indian entrepreneur looking for information on lingerie manufacturing. Will it be possible for you to provide me information about lingerie manufacturing. I am looking for understanding the whole lingerie manufacturing process and the machines required for it.
Will it be possible for you to guide me to the right people?
Hoping for a positive reply Thanking you in advance
Gautam Kapoor  kapoorgautam@yahoo.com

Dear Gautam, Lingerie Manufacturing is a business that requires a hands on education that anyone individual would not be able to give you via the internet or through a Library.
People go to school to learn how to sew or to design, and then spend years working in the industry to learn what you are requesting.  Various Machines & attachments are required for different procedures, and only experience can direct you in this.
However maybe some of our readers may be able to help you.
Good Luck in your venture:  Pete McKeown, McPete Sez LLC

My grandfather was a member of the Goodfellowship Corset Club for over 25 years. His name was Larry Krieger. He worked for Playtex from the late 1950's until 1981 when he retired.
I am trying to find who has the archives of the GFCC's news letters
since I am putting together a scrapbook about my grandfather. Any

                             OOOOPPPSS!

Dear Pete: Usually, I enjoy reading your email publication. I just read the latest issue, however,  and write regarding the section on Paul Wellstone's services. There was no good reason for that piece to appear, except political. It did not belong. Yours is not a political newsletter.
It is all about lingerie and related products/materials.
It is my opinion that you should 1) keep to what you do best, your core competencies (a phrase that could have been coined only by consultants), 2) leave the politics to others, and 3) vote for the party/persons of your choice next Tuesday. Regards, T. G.

Re: the November 1st article entitled, A Political Disgrace. Please try to keep the political content to a minimum, or have an editorial page to express your opinions. This is supposed to be Lingerie Newsletter, not a forum for the editor's personal political opinions. H. B.
Dear H.B. I just don't have enough Opinions to devote to a whole page.  Regards, Pete.
