Federated To Close More Stores
Department store retailer Federated Department Stores has identified
an additional six stores it intends to divest in 2006 as a result of its merger with The May Department Stores Company.
The six stores to be closed are located in Arizona, California, Indiana, Kentucky and New Hampshire.
Federated previously identified 76 locations it plans to divest beginning from next year because duplicative Macy's and May Company
stores operate in the same mall or shopping center.
The string of 82 stores now to be closed had total 2004 sales of $2.2 billion.
Once duplicate stores are divested, the remaining Macy's in that location will include employees from both locations. The company
expects to offer employment to all management personnel in good standing from both stores and to offer positions to the vast
majority of associates.

Boscono Replaces Moss for
H&M's New Collection
Fashion retailer Hennes and Mauritz said that it had picked Italian model Mariacarla Boscono to launch a new collection, after dropping Kate Moss over her reported use of cocaine.
"We picked her because she is an experienced and skilful model who portrays the collection in a good way," H&M spokeswoman Liv Asarnoj stated.
"We have received assurances from Mariacarla's agent that she lives a healthy life," she added.
The youth fashion chain last month decided to drop Moss, 31, from an already shot campaign for a special autumn-winter collection designed by Stella McCartney after grainy pictures were published apparently showing her snorting cocaine.
Moss, who has lost several other large contracts following the media reports, has not admitted to taking drugs but has apologized for her behavior and checked herself into a US clinic for "medical treatment and therapy."
The one-off Stella McCartney collection is scheduled to hit about 400 selected H and M stores across 22 countries worldwide on November 10, and the Swedish company said it had not had time to replace the entire advertising campaign with pictures of the 25-year-old Boscono.
"The main medium is television, and (Boscono) will be used in the TV ads," Asarnoj said, adding however that the company had decided to use graphics in all of its printed ads in papers, magazines and on posters.

Missoni Signs Barrymore
Drew Barrymore has reportedly signed a deal to become the new face of the Italian fashion house Missoni.
The former Guess girl was recently spotted shooting Missoni's spring ad campaign on the Spanish island of Ibiza.
Barrymore, 30, was named by People magazine in 1997 as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World.

Mandelson Bashed Over
Bra Wars
The diplomat who brought China into the World Trade Organisation, Long Yongtu, has attacked Peter Mandelson over the "bra wars" textiles row, claiming that the EU trade commissioner was guilty of "double standards" by employing controversial import tariffs.
Mr Yongtu, who now heads the influential Boao Economic Forum for Asia, said the quotas on textiles introduced by Mandelson earlier this year had undermined the Chinese people's confidence in the concept of free trade.

Dear Husband:
I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you for good. I've been a good woman to you for seven years and I have nothing to show for it.
These last two weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that you had quit your job today and that was the last straw. Last week, you came home and didn't notice that I had gotten my hair and nails done, cooked your favorite meal and even wore a brand new negligee.

After all of this, I still loved you and felt that we could work it out. So when I
discovered that I had hit the lotto for Ten Million dollars, I quit my job and
bought us two tickets to Jamaica. But when I got home you were gone.
Everything happens for a reason I guess. I hope you have the filling life you
always wanted. My lawyer said with your letter that you wrote, you won't get a dime from me. So take care.
P.S. I don't know if I ever told you this but Carl, my brother was born Carla. I hope that's not a problem.
