Balloon Bikinis
An American designer has come up with an entirely unique lingerie range made of balloons.
Rather than sexy satin or silk, Jones creates clothes out of balloons twisted together.
He has now come out with distinctive range of bikini with its straps made of rubber.
He revealed that it took him nearly 10 hours to make the balloon dresses.

CURVENY
After only a year in business and two excellent shows on the west coast, CURVENY
concluded its first show in New York City.
Despite Curve’s efforts to consolidate the intimate apparel market in the time frame allotted by the IAC for
market week, CURVENY is not immune to the economic downturn and other extraneous events such as the
Super Bowl, the ticker-tape parade and Super Tuesday. December sales were slow and the January figures
confirmed the decline in consumer confidence. Still serious retailers had to view the new collections during
market week to sustain their business.
Attendance with a total of 1,190 visitors, was of very high quality as attested by the presence of major
buyers representing the best in retail, department stores, and specialty stores.
To name a few leading department stores, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Henri
Bendel, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Van Maur, Barneys, J.C Penney and Dillard’s were spotted on
the floor. Holt Renfrew came from Canada.
CURVENY was visited by destination stores from all over the world including: Canada, Australia, Sweden,
The Netherlands, and Lebanon. They were Faire Frou-Frou from Studio City, CA, Lulu’s from Manhattan
Beach, La Mode Lingerie (Texas), By George (Austin, Texas), Ladybird (Rhode Island), A Tropical Affair (
Santa Barbara ,CA) , Black Parrot, G Boutique (Chicago), Jane’s Vanity (Oregon), Intimacy of Atlanta, La
Petite Coquette and Lingerie on Lex (both from New York City), Nancy Meyer (Seattle), and Night & Day
Lingerie. All these high-end stores came to shop the 171 brands worthy of their image and reputation.
They shopped the Boutique Lingerie section, a boutique environment for luxurious designer brands such as
Carine Gilson, Damaris, Myla London, Guia La Bruna, Skin, Lizalde, among others, and the main floor for
leading brands, such as Le Mystère, Betsey Johnson, Lejaby, Prima Donna, Elle Macpherson, On
Gossamer, Cosabella, Hanky Panky, Diesel, Spanx, Vera Wang and the myriad brands emblematic of the
main categories: NK iMode for sleepwear/homewear, Claire Pettibone for bridal, Arianne and Mary Green
for daywear, Diamond Tea for loungewear to name a few.
Buyers came also for the quality of services offered by a team that is liked and respected in the industry:
Jean-Luc Teinturier, Laurence Teinturier, and their new partner Samantha Chang. Perfection is in the
details, from the booth settings to the complimentary gourmet lunch and informative seminars. Tango
Intimo, a surprise tango demonstration by Broadway dancers brought an innovative touch to the lingerie
scene. In addition to the current season’s trends, attendees were offered a preview of the upcoming
season, Spring-Summer 2009 by CARLIN INTERNATIONAL. Never before had the preview been made
available in North America.
CURVENY co-sponsored together with Montreal Collections and Best of Intima a reception and fashion
show on Sunday, February 3. The participating Canadian brands were Body wrap, Hanna Elita, Montelle,
Giovanni D’Amico, Blush, Diamond Tea...
Under the tents at Bryant Park, CURVENY teamed up with LYCRA to present “The Foundation of
Fashion”, a lingerie display of top brands incorporating Lycra fibers. This display remained on view for the
entire duration of fashion week (Feb 1 thru Feb 8). It is the first time lingerie is so prominently featured
during the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. Participating brands were: La Perla, Lejaby, Wacoal,
Natori, Spanx, Chantelle, Le Mystère, Badgley Mischka, and Calvin Klein. A large crowd representing all
industry majors, Brands, and retailers flocked to the party celebrating Lingerie as the new player of the
fashion world on February 6; Live models mingled with the crowd in their bare essentials.
Next session of CURVENY is scheduled for August 3, 4, 5 and will present the Spring-Summer 2009
collections. The following session for the Fall-Winter 2009 collections has already been scheduled and will
again coincide with the Intimate Apparel Market week: Sunday, February 1, Monday, February 2 and
Tuesday, February 3, 2009.
CURVENV will open its doors in Las Vegas on February 14 thru 16, 2008 at the Venetian with 145 Brands
and will return on August 25, 26, 27, 2008 on the dates retained for Las Vegas Fashion week.

Bragel Debuts Lighter
Version of NuBra
by Luis Paredes
Bragel debuted a new, lighter version of its popular Nubra - NuBra Lite - at Lingerie Americas. The new version is 35 percent lighter than its predecessor. Made from a proprietary formulation of lightweight silicone gel, Nubra Lite will be available starting in May 2008. NuBra Lite is available in sizes
A,B, and C in one color, nude.
"Each ultra smooth, soft and supple feeling bra cup blends with the contours of the body and provides a natural look and feel without the added weight," said Daren
Peng, VP of Operations for Bragel International Inc (makers of NuBra). "Lightweight, Natural and Seamless – there is no doubt that NuBra Lite is becoming the most comfortable, versatile and must-have self-adhesive, strapless and backless bra in every woman's wardrobe."
Peng also noted that NuBra Lite will come in very upscale packaging that's a more elegant offering than past versions and will resemble more of a gift box. More info on Bragel at
