  LOTIONS AND LACE
   THE DREAMGIRL
            STORY

Founder and entrepreneur, Pat Fischer, began marketing DREAMGIRL Lingerie at first as an addition to a her popular line of sensual body oils and lotions. Pat was manufacturing the lotions which were picked up by all of the major home party companies operating in the early 1980s and she needed lingerie to round out the line. She began buying the lingerie private label from local California manufacturers, distributing it along with her product line to the home party trade and later, after doing a color catalog, decided to go into manufacturing herself.

"When I told the people I was buying from, who are now my competition, that I was going to make it myself, they laughed. It's too hard," they said. "There's a lot more involved than you think!"     They were right, Pat found out soon enough.
Starting with very little working capital, and even less knowledge of the apparel industry, Pat was definitely in over her head! But after a couple of tough years learning the business, making the inevitable mistakes like not letting the stretch lace relax before cutting so that 500 body suits came in too small and had to be sold to a children's discount chain - Pat began to succeed in bringing a line of sexy lingerie and clubwear to the forefront of the industry.
Today Dreamgirl is considered one of the top sexy lingerie manufacturers and their styling, designs, and catalogs are cutting edge. Dreamgirl's website, www.DreamgirlDirect.com , has given the company more of a presence internationally as well as in the U.S.
Pat has always run her company hands on and hires mostly women whom she mentors and develops into savvy, first rate managers. The atmosphere in their newly built high tech Culver City headquarters is that of a young, fresh, creative staff of highly motivated people who work hard to make Dreamgirl the best it can be.
Sales for the past year have exceeded projections and are 30% ahead of last year's figures. "We're on a roll," says Pat.
Just the other day a customer called saying she'd had a robbery and that the thieves broke in and stole all of her Dreamgirl. "They didn't take anything else but Dreamgirl," reported the customer.
Looks like Dreamgirl must be doing something right.

    London Fashion Week Closes
LONDON (AP) - Warrior? Waif? Wicked?
Indulge your fantasies, whatever they are, is the message from London Fashion Week, a six-day cavalcade of goths and soldiers, fairies and ragamuffins that ended Friday.
``If you want to know what hangs in the wardrobe of someone suffering from a multiple personality disorder, look no further,'' wrote Daily Telegraph fashion editor Hilary Alexander, confessing that her head was in a whirl.
Almost inevitably, much of the attention focused on Alexander McQueen, on a high after being declared Designer of the Year for the third straight year.
In an echoing warehouse near Paddington Station, the hard man from London's East End rigged up his vision of a nightmare child's playground, complete with eerily revolving carousel with bobbing horses swathed in patent leather.
Throught this dark, menacing landscape stomped the models in wicked boots with metal spiked heels, their snarling mouths slathered with black lipstick, their hair madly waved.
But the clothes were pure creative drama: tightly tucked wool suits with dramatic single epaulettes worn with feathered military helmets, slinky dresses in draped jersey silk or see-through lace, and yards of softly flounced lace bursting from hard-edged tailored wool jackets.
Tiny tops that were mere slivers of silk jersey crowned the shortest of skirts or sexy trousers in patent leather.
Knits included a sweater emblazoned with a skull and crossbones.
The word on color from McQueen is green: from acid to khaki, to avocado, jade and bottle.
Kira Chaplin, granddaughter of comedy genius Charlie Chaplin, modeled a sexy denim dress slashed to reveal a pierced nipple.

There were three blokes talking in the pub. Two of them are talking about the amount of control they have over their wives, while the third bloke remains quiet.
After a while one of the first two turns to the third and says "Well, what about you, what sort of control do you have over your wife?"
The third fellow says "I'll tell you. Just the other night my wife came to me on her hands and knees."
The first two blokes where amazed.
"What happened then?" they asked.
"She said 'GET OUT FROM UNDER THE BED AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN!'."

Bare Skin, High Hair at the
                     Grammys

Above:Traci Bingham at the 43rd Annual Grammy
                                     Awards

Jennifer Lopez may have been absent from this year's
Grammy Awards, but she would have been proud last
night.   As expected, there was tons of cleavage, micro-minis and exposed underwear to rival the plunging V-neck
number Lopez wore last year. Still, the jaded audience
got a shock when they saw Toni Braxton's white backless, sideless, almost frontless dress by Richard Tyler.
It made Christina Aguilera's plunging V-necks and scarf
dress and Faith Hill's transparent blouse over black dress
seem almost tame in comparison. But bare skin was no guarantee of success, since Macy Gray took home the
award in her sequined jeans and top that read "Goofy."
Though the ladies may have skimped on fabric, one thing
they had lots of was hair -- we haven't seen this many
extensions since Daryl Hannah in "Splash." Latin Pop
Album winner
Shakira went with huge waves, while Christina Aguilera
sported corn rows. The men, in the hair department, were notable for what they didn't have, rather than for what
they did -- like N'Sync heartthrob Justin Timberlake, who shaved his head completely.

    Our Cop/Rep. in Action
I was on foot patrol with my partner in Flushing, Queens, NY, when approached by someone who told us about a man who was bleeding from his head.
My partner and I approached the man, and what used to be his eye,  was now a new orafus. He was robbed and stabbed in the eye.    I called central and requested an ambulance and put a description over the radio of the people who did this to him.
The two purps were arrested and are now in jail.
I received a certificate of Commendation from the City of NY. and a Breast Bar.   A/SGT. NYPD. Dennis Esterow,

``He will be wearing only the briefest of underpants -- if that,'' the radio station said.

Go Paper???
In a society that aims to be paperless it seems as though we keep finding more ways to use paper.
Although most are quick to dismiss paper as a predictable or everyday resource French designer Etienne Brunel has been creating magnificent designs with special blends of paper.
Scarves, handbags, skirts, dresses, coats, corsets, even wedding dresses are created by Etienne Brunel and worn by celebrities, socialites, and trend setters in Europe and America. The
material Brunel uses is translucent, has the lightness of tissue paper or chiffon, the durability of tyvek paper yet it is washable and recyclable.
The pieces in Brunel's collection range from graceful, to fantasy and are proper, pretty and cutting edge at the same time. The dresses have a look of whimsy, and sophistication while retaining a brilliant sense of simplicity.

Woman dance at a club in Bogota Friday, March 9, 2001. In an appeal to the sexes to "walk a night in one another's shoes," Bogota's offbeat mayor, Antanas Mockus, staged a "Night Without Men" imposing a voluntary curfew encouraging women to go out and dance until dawn and men to stay home and watch the kids.
