Mango To Open 4 New
Stores in China This Year
Spanish women’s fashion chain Mango, which is fast becoming a fixture on the world’s high streets, intends to open four new stores in China
this year, a spokeswoman was reported as saying
The revelation came as the Barcelona-based prêt a porter retailer opened a 150 square
meter store in Hong Kong’s Airport on January 29.
China, the world’s biggest market, offers enormous growth potential for Mango. “It is one of our key Asian markets and we plan to
continue expanding there,” the spokeswoman said.
Mango is on course to install 150 shops globally this year, up from 130 openings in 2006. In four years, the company plans to have about
1,550 stores in four continents.
The airport outlet is located in the main pre-checking area of the international terminal. With the new shop, Mango operates nine stores
in the Hong Kong fashion market, which it entered seven years ago.

The Lingerie Americas
Show In New York
Intimate Apparel buyers from across the country made a strong showing at
Lingerie Americas, the largest and most respected lingerie trade show in North America. 2,357 visitors attended the event, held February 7 thru 9 at
The Altman Building and Metropolitan Pavilion in New York. Show management predicted a slight decrease in attendance this season, due to the
pre-Valentine’s Day market dates established by The Intimate Apparel Council and because this is the first time that Lingerie Americas was held so
early in the season and so late in the week.
“Lingerie Americas New York was a wonderful success this season on every
level. Exhibitors we observed and spoke with during the show were very busy
writing orders,” said Patrice Argain, CEO, Lingerie Americas.
“With the changed market dates, we assumed some of the buyers would not be able to make the trip but we decided to support The Intimate Apparel
Council. We are very pleased to have nearly the same number of visitors this
season as we did last February. Lingerie Americas was not only in the middle
of the week for the first time, but it was sandwiched between the Paris Show
and Valentine’s Day, yet we maintained our numbers. We noticed however that, since the buyers had to get back to their shops for the weekend, some
were not able to return to the show as often as they usually do. Feedback
from the buyers and the exhibitors indicates that they want Lingerie Americas
to be held after Valentine’s Day. We will certainly consider this strongly for
next February,” added Mr. Argain.
Exhibitors Representing Every Category and a Designer Debut 270 brands, major fashion names and prestigious lines, as well as up-and-coming and
debut collections, showcased everything from basic designs to the newest fashions in foundations, underwear, sleepwear, loungewear, shapewear,
hosiery, daywear, maternity and other related products.
Couture label Badgley Mischka debuted its first intimate apparel collection at Lingerie Americas. A total of 55 brands were showing for the first time, which
is the usual turn over at Lingerie Americas. Some of the other notables
included Annabelle Joule, Bendon Sport, Biatta Intimates, Carol Malony, Catchy, D’lish by Daniella Simon, Echo Design, Ed Hardy Intimates, Elise
Aucouturier, Elixir de Lingerie, Fantasie Fauve, Free People, FS2 by Fernando Sanchez, Ginch Gonch, Helene Ponot, Hosiery by La Perla, Lou,
Malizia Silk, Mudd Sleepwear, Occhi Verdi, Tra-La-La and Xoxo.
Major designer brands returning to the show this season included Aubade, Betsey Johnson, Chantelle, Elle Macpherson Intimates, Huit, La Perla
(Malizia, Joelle, Occhi Verdi and Hosiery by La Perla), Le Mystère,
Natori, Nicole Miller, Oscar de la Renta, Simone Perele, Vera Wang, among others.
Other popular brands returning were Cosabella, OnGossamer, Hanky Panky, Honeydew Intimates, Shirley of Hollywood, Scanty, Spanx, and many more.
Gift with Purchase Offer for Boutiques and More To celebrate Valentine’s
Day, Lingerie Americas offered visiting boutiques a complimentary gift with
purchase package designed to share with their clients. The gift included 40
bracelets featuring either a silver-toned heart or star charm, attractively
packaged in a decorative red box designed to be placed near the shop’s cash desk. The package was Lingerie Americas’ way of thanking buyers for
attending the show during the busy holiday selling season.
In addition, the always-popular Lingerie Americas Gift bag, distributed to
buyers at The Level on the fifth floor of the show, featured an array of merchandise from generous exhibitors Betsey Johnson Intimates, Biatta
Intimates, Coton Doux, Ginch Gonch, Kadi, Nuit Magique, So Shei, and Vestiny.
Seminars and Special Attractions
Lingerie Americas high-level seminars and presentations were well attended. Visitors filled the room for The Doneger Group’s “Pillow Talk” Trend
Overview as well as “Successful Retailing by the Numbers,” by Ensign Systems and Sensible Business Systems of Stamford, which provided tips on Inventory Management and Point-of-Sale solutions.
The Best of Intima magazine presented its selection of the most innovative
distribution concepts and latest store openings from around the world with its
“Shop Scouting Worldwide” ongoing video. The first edition of “The Book”,
presenting a selection of the most beautiful and influential Lingerie shops
worldwide, received a warm welcome from specialty store owners who visited Lingerie Americas.
And The Wear?Canada! Lounge offered a wealth of information on the Canadian brands at the show, as well as a modern comfortable place to relax
for a few moments during the busy event.
Viva Las Vegas! Las Vegas Lounge and VIP Cocktail Party
Much of the excitement at the show was focused on Lingerie Americas Las Vegas, which will debut in August 2007. Visitors learned more about the new show in the special Las Vegas Lounge, while exhibitors were invited to a cocktail reception on opening night. Attendees of the party, held at the show, enjoyed champagne, hors d’oeuvres and a surprise performance by Elvis himself (an impersonator that is). Approximately 70 brands have already confirmed participation in Las Vegas. The new show grew from the results of extensive research indicating West coast buyers want a show in their area and tremendous demand from exhibitors.
Lingerie Americas is held twice a year in New York. The show was founded in August 2002. Upcoming shows in 2007 include: Lingerie Americas New York, August 5 thru 7 at The Altman Building/Metropolitan Pavilion and the inaugural edition of Lingerie Americas Las Vegas, August 27 – 29 at The Venetian.

The Ultimate Female Joke
A woman was sitting at a bar enjoying an after-work cocktail with
her girlfriends when an exceptionally tall, handsome, extremely sexy, middle-aged man entered. He was so striking that the woman could
not take her eyes off him.
The young-at-heart man noticed her overly attentive stare and walked directly toward her. Before she could offer her apologies for so rudely staring, he
leaned over and whispered to her,
"I'll do anything, absolutely anything, that you want me to do, no matter how
kinky, for $20.00......on one condition."
Flabbergasted, the woman asked what the condition was.
He replied, "You have to tell me what you want me to do in just three words."
The woman considered his proposition for a moment, then slowly removed a $20 bill from her purse, which she pressed into the man's hand along with her
address. She looked deeply into his eyes and slowly and meaningfully said....
"Clean my house."
