India Expects 20% Increase
     for 2005 Exports

India's garment manufacturers expect exports to rise 20% this year per 'Women's Garments: Supplier capability in India,' predicts a 20% increase in exports to over $6.5 billion in 2005, compared the 10% growth registered annually since 2002.
Exports of women’s garments – which make up the bulk of the country’s apparel shipments – are expected to grow most sharply in 2005.
India is forecast to become the second-biggest apparel provider to the US after China, following the abolition of WTO export quotas in January. The country is presently the sixth-biggest apparel exporter globally.
Michael Kleist, editor-in-chief of Asian Sources Fashion Accessories & Supplies, said India’s competitive advantages included "the availability of relatively low-cost skilled labor and qualified designers, and the fact that it is one of the world's largest producers of cotton and manmade yarns and fabrics."
US retail giant JC Penney said it expects to buy 20% more Indian textiles in 2005 due to the country's cost advantages and the disappearance of the quota system.
The company said it expects sourcing from India to rise by between 20% and 25% annually over the next few years.

Minki's 21st Birthday
Cape Town model Minki van der Westhuizen, who turned 21 on Saturday, has signed a lucrative lingerie contract with major British label Eveden Limited.
The announcement was made at her 21st birthday party, held at Rhodes House on Friday night.
Eveden did not disclose the value of the contract but it is said to be worth "a substantial amount", topping Van der Westhuizen's Guess Jeans contract, which she signed in 2001.
It was a night of high spirits and some emotion for Van der Westhuizen who you could not miss in a red dress by Hip Hop, and followed around by a river of photographers and a bodyguard for most of the evening.
Her birthday party was attended by more than a thousand people. Some of the attendees included super-model Brett Shuttleworth, former Miss Universe and presenter Michelle McLean and P4 Radio presenter Natalie Becker.
Also there were Big Brother winner Ferdinand Rabie, ex-Springbok rugby player James Small and Christina Storm, cricketer Jacques Kallis and fiancée Cindy Nel and cricketer Andrew Hall's wife Leanie Hall who came from Johannesburg for the celebrations.
Eveden's art and creative director for the Freya lingerie range Pippa Neal said Van der Westhuizen was chosen from hundreds of models and signed because of her "great personality", and her "small back and big bust size", which was a growing trend in body shape in Britain.
The young model will remain in South Africa, traveling overseas only when necessary.

Breast Enhancing Cream's Demonstrated in Public
A promotion for breast enhancing cream that involved three models having a 15 minute mammary massage in public has caused a furor in Thailand, with family groups saying it violates traditional values and morality.
Despite Bangkok's racy reputation as the "anything goes" sex capital of southeast Asia, most Thais are uncomfortable with public nudity.
"The campaign is just to promote the product without considering the damage to society," Ladda Thangsupachai of the Cultural Watch Center told the Nation newspaper on Friday. "This is taking advantage of society and an irresponsible act."
Executives of St Herb Co., which makes the "breast beautifying" cream, said they laid on the stunt merely to counter suggestions their advertising claims were exaggerated.
The Nation said Ying, one of the models, was embarrassed at having to bare herself in front of the cameras, but did believe her breasts had become firmer and the gap between them smaller as a result of the treatment.
St Herb is likely to evade the wrath of regulators because the cream is "breast beautifying" rather than "breast enlarging" -- a trick missed by makers of a "breast enlarging bra" now under scrutiny from the Thai Food and Drug Administration.

Sara Lee Wants to Sell European
        Apparel by July

The new president and chief executive of Sara Lee Corp on Wednesday said the consumer goods giant hoped to sell its European clothing business by the end of fiscal year 2005, which ends July.
Earlier this month the Chicago company unveiled plans to reorganize into a tightly focused food, beverage and household products company.
As well as putting its European apparel business on the block, Sara Lee is pursuing a spin-off of its $4.6 billion Branded Apparel Americas/Asia business, which includes such brands as Hanes underwear, Bali and Playtex bras and Champion active wear.
This is likely to be completed by the first quarter of fiscal 2007 the company said.
        Never Say to A Cop
1. I can't reach my license unless you hold my beer. (OK in Texas)
2. Sorry, Officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in.
3.Aren't you the guy from the Village People?
4. Hey, you must've been doin' about 125 mph to keep up with me. Good job!
5. Are You Andy or Barney?
6. I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a police officer.
7. You're not gonna check the trunk, are you?
8. I pay your salary!
9. Gee, Office r! That's terrific. The last officer only gave me a warning, too!
10. Do you know why you pulled me over? Okay, just so one of us does.
11. I was trying to keep up with traffic. Yes, I know there are no other cars around.. That's how far ahead of me they are.
12. When the Officer says "Gee ..Your eyes look red, have you been drinking?" You probably shouldn't respond with," Gee Officer your eyes look glazed, have you been eating doughnuts?"
Clothing Optional Dinner Group
The diners arrived at a nice Manhattan restaurant on a cold February night and stripped off coats, hats, gloves and scarves. They didn't stop there.
Skirts, shirts, pants, underwear and stockings all ended up stashed in plastic bags by the bar as the patrons got naked for the monthly "Clothing Optional Dinner."
"It's exciting to be in a restaurant nude," said George Keyes, 65, a retired junior high school English teacher.  Nude yes, but not unadorned.
Keyes, a lifelong nudist, wore a necklace, earrings and a black leather "genital bracelet" with red studs. And white sneakers.
The dinner was started by a group of New York nudists who wanted something a bit more elegant than the wilderness getaways and beach resorts they generally frequent.
"When you go away on holiday it's more you're roughing it in the woods, whereas this is a really nice restaurant," said Keyes, a member of gay nudist group Males Au Naturel, or MAN.
John Ordover set up the dining club about a year ago, recruiting members through word of mouth and the Internet.
"Next month is our Easter bonnet event, where everybody has to come wearing an Easter bonnet," said Ordover, a heavyset man with a jovial smile and glasses.
Around 30 people arrived for the buffet dinner -- organizers specified no hot soup on the menu -- most of them middle-aged, several married couples, some singles, the youngest perhaps in their 30s.
Health regulations mean staff must remain clothed even if they wanted to join in. And diners must bring something to sit on -- a towel or, for discerning women, an elegant silk scarf.
The restaurant's manager covered the windows to maintain privacy at the strictly private party. Extra heaters kept the temperature at a comfortable level for nudity.
"Men in nudist resorts are striking a bargain. They get to see as many naked women as they like as long as they are polite and look them straight in the eye," she said.
Sherry Stafford, a petite and elegant 51-year-old with blond hair and high heels, brought brochures and videos advertising her travel business, Internaturally Travel.  One of the flyers was for a resort called "Hedonism II" whose slogan is "Be wicked for a week." But she said nudists should not be confused with swingers.
"Wearing clothes and going to church does not protect you from moral evil," Stafford said, lamenting what she saw as a tendency to demonize people just because they like to be naked.
Sandy, a slim woman in her 40s, said she never felt self-conscious about her body and was comfortable dining in the nude. But she did admit to being a bit more nervous before a recent naked yoga class attended by around 25 people.
"Everyone was a little concerned there would be people looking around but the good thing is nobody really was," she said, standing at the restaurant's bar before dinner.
"If you try to maintain a yoga position you're going to fall if you start looking around -- and that's more embarrassing than anything else."

Dear Andy:
I was wondering if you knew how I could contact a very old retired sales rep of Dreamgirl who I need to talk to about a legal matter in 1989. How would you suggest I go about finding out his whereabouts? Would you have any contacts? Please advise.
Christopher

Dear Christopher: we searched Google for Al Levy and there are 33134 pages on the Internet mentioning Al Levy. The quickest and easiest way to find him, is to have your attorney do a search at www.lexisnexis.com using Al's social security number or any other information you may still have on Al. Good Luck, Andy
PS: on a personal note, Pat Fischer must be smiling down on Dreamgirl. We met Pat about 15 years ago, when she came to our offices to buy our fabrics. We love your ads in Body magazine.
