LEGS UNLIMITED INTRODUCES "LUISALUISA" COLLECTION OF POST-MASTECTOMY EXERCISE WEAR:
First Sports Bra Line Specifically Designed For Breast Cancer Survivors

Sherman Oaks, CA- January 2001 Legs Unlimited, a Los Angeles-based hosiery and lingerie manufacturer, has launched LUISALUISA, the first line exercise wear specifically designed for breast cancer survivors using prosthesis. 

Luisa Matzak-Yahalom, owner and designer for Legs Unlimited, was inspired to create a post-mastectomy exercise top when she was introduced to Susan  Thomas, a breast cancer survivor. Exercise wear was unavailable for women wearing a breast form; a prosthetic bra had to be worn under any exercise tops, which wasn't comfortable and secure for fitness activities. The new 
and innovative LUISALUISA post-mastectomy exercise top was specially constructed with sewn in pockets and the opening for the prosthetic on the inside side seam underneath the armpit, holding the breast form securely in place and eliminating the need for two layers. The high armhole and front neckline design provide extra coverage. The tops are fully lined with
moisture absorbing fabric, and there are no horizontal seams, avoiding any irritation. The LUISALUISA designs feature the same sporty styling as a regular exercise bra.

Luisa Matzak-Yahalom is determined to reach a market that has been neglected until now. "As an active woman myself, I am extremely aware of the need to exercise and keep in shape, and this is even more important for the physical and mental well-being of women who have undergone mastectomies," she said.

LUISALUISA exercise tops are available in six sizes to fit women size four to 24. The collection is manufactured in the USA with a patent pending for the new design. The line includes pullover tops, a front zipper exercise top and a leotard. A line of swimwear is currently in development. The exercise tops retail from $28.50 to $36.00 and can be found in orthopedic specialty

According to the National Cancer Institute, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes and every 14 minutes one dies of the disease. 
In the United States, breast cancer is the leading cause of death among women aged 40-55, and is the most common form of cancer in women.
