        Miss Russia is Miss Universe
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico,  - Miss Russia, raven-haired post-graduate student  Oxana Fedorova, won the Miss Universe 2002 title at a glittering ceremony in Puerto Rico Wednesday night, sweeping away a field of 74 other candidates with her elegance and charm.
In second place was Miss Panama, Justine Pasek, while Miss China, Ling Zhuo, finished third. China, the world's most populous nation, had never sent a contestant to the glitzy pageant before.
The winners were announced at the end of a gala night of parades in figure-hugging swim suits and shimmering evening gowns in San Juan, capital of the U.S. Caribbean territory of Puerto Rico.
Crowned with a diamond and pearl-encrusted crown and smiling hugely, 24-year-old green-eyed Fedorova walked the catwalk before a cheering crowd and then launched within minutes into her year of flashing cameras and celebrity.
It was the first time a Miss Russia had won the contest, which is run by the Miss Universe Organization, jointly owned by property tycoon Donald Trump and CBS Television.

Department Stores,  Are they History? 
Many department stores are in trouble. The entire department segment suffers from a chronic case of the "look-alike syndrome". From the customer's perspective, the market is seen as a brilliant shade of gray where no one company stands out as a unique competitor. Consequently, department stores lack focus, identity and differentiation. There is no longer a compelling reason to shop in a department store if the same or similar product can be purchased in a new format retailer.
The bulk of the sales growth in department stores in recent years has come through consolidation. At the same time, the new competitors like Kohl's and Target are increasing sales and profits by adding more stores and taking away shoppers from department stores. For instance, Kohl's announced this week that they are adding 112 new stores in seven new major markets. Obviously, they have identified a formula that works, yet some department stores look over the wall and claim that they are "not our shopper."
If that were true, where did these shoppers shop before there were stores like Kohl's and Target? The reality is that the new types of value-focused retailers have hurt department store sales and unless the traditional department stores find a way to re-invent themselves, they will continue to be faced with a zero sum game.

When a doorman at French luxury hotel Plaza Athenee recently threw
tempestuous diva Naomi Campbell out of hotel bar "Le Bar" for "being out of  control," he probably saved the evening for the other guests who most likely preferred to enjoy their cocktail without a choleric Campbell raging in the room. But feisty Naomi is not one to back down in a fight. Hence she launched a boycott against Le Bar among her rich and famous friends that affected the establishment so badly that they gave in and fired the bouncer.  He was only doing his job   - Fashion.net

                       Flea market Corsets!
Saucy underthings are in demand. Take the theft of almost $40,000 worth of bras, panties and corsets from an Agent Provocateur store in London last week. Now, the latest - and entirely legal - event for undergarment fetishists is a new exhibition at the Marché Dauphine in Paris' Clignancourt flea market.
Starting May 31st & running through June 30, the free exhibition, entitled "Dessous et Corsets 1870-1970," is the realization of a long-held dream of corsetry collector Ghislaine Rayer.
Rayer, a long-time collector of vintage undergarments, has opened two stores in the last four years in the covered Marché Dauphine. 
Among her most treasured pieces are an all-silk ball gown corset from the 1890s and a selection of classic 1950s brassieres.
The exhibition will kick-off this week with a fashion show featuring vintage pieces worn by models of all ages. Ultra-Parisian lingerie designer Chantal Thomass will be the guest of honor, sporting four of her own favorite designs from the '80s for the show. 
French lingerie firm Simone Perele is funding the event.
For the duration of the exhibition a selection of vintage underwear will be suspended from the glass and steel dome of the market for all to enjoy.
If you don't catch the Paris show, it's not your last chance. The exhibition heads east to China next.
