            U.K's Lingerie sales
The UK clothing industry has struggled for some years against a downturn in demand and an increase in value, and an improvement in the quality of imported goods. The lingerie sector has been no exception. Between 1996 and 1998, imports of lingerie rose by almost a third, while exports fell by 6.6% in a trend unlikely to be reversed, especially with rises in the interest rates strengthening the pound still further.
Retail pricing has been aggressively competitive, and traditional High Street chains (which have held the lion's share of the value of lingerie sales) are facing increased competition from other sources, such as supermarkets, mail order and online shopping.

                    A Fisherman's Tale

Two fellas are fishing in a boat under a bridge. One looks up and sees a funeral procession starting across the bridge. He stands up, takes off his cap, and bows his head. The procession crosses the bridge and the man puts on his cap, picks up his rod and reel, and continues fishing.
The other guy says, "That was touching. I didn't know you had it in you."
The first guy responds, "Well, I guess it was the thing to do - after all,
I was married to her for 40 years."

Cool Weather Hurts May Retail Sales
NEW YORK - Unusually cool weather stifled demand for shorts, T-shirts and other seasonal merchandise during May, leaving many of the nation's biggest retailers with disappointing sales.

Cindy Margolis Gives Birth to Son
                          Corset Anyone?

The blond actress-model gave birth to a 6-pound, 14-ounce boy Sunday at a Los Angeles hospital, publicist Neil Cirucci said Monday.
Both Margolis and her son, Nicholas Issac, are in good health, he said.
Margolis, 36, gave admirers a peek at her bulging belly last month with a series of photos showing her in a negligee, lacy underwear and cuddling with her husband.
"To be a mother was my ultimate dream. I've never been happier," she said Monday.
She and husband Guy Starkman, president of the Jerry's Famous Deli restaurant chain, tried to have a child for two years before they turned to in vitro fertilization treatments.
The former "Price Is Right" model started a Web site in 1997 featuring images of herself wearing bikinis and other revealing outfits. A loyal fan base followed. The "Guinness Book of World Records" once called her "the most downloaded woman on the Internet."

Weather Lifts Retail Sales 1st Week June
NEW YORK - Hot and balmy weather across the country helped drive sales for summer goods at U.S. retail chains last week, giving a much-needed boost to clothing sales at department stores, two reports showed on Tuesday.
Economists expect consumer spending, which accounts for around two-thirds of U.S. economic activity and proved remarkably resilient during the last recession, to lift the retail sector out of a two-month lull and continue to keep the national economy afloat.
Sales at U.S. chain stores rose 1.6 percent in the week ended June 8 following a 0.1 percent rise in the previous week, the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and UBS Warburg reported.
Separately, Instinet Research's Redbook Average of sales rose 2.3 percent in the first week of June compared with the same period last month.
"Just as we think consumer spending is fading away, it comes back," said Steve Wood, chief economist at FinancialOxygen in Walnut Creek, Calif.
"Overall, we're still seeing consumer spending rise at a reasonably decent pace, strong enough to keep the expansion on solid ground," he said.
Signs that June could prove a better month for retailers are encouraging. But analysts expect the Commerce Department's monthly report on May retail sales, which includes big-ticket items like cars, to show total sales slipped.

I had to laugh at your latest e-newsletter's article "Oprah Goes
Under Cover" ----especially since one Xmas not long ago, I worked in the lingerie department of the San Francisco Neiman Marcus store! Oprah goes there? to find risque, hot, and revealing lingerie?
I don't think so!         Expensive lingerie---yes!  Even overpriced lingerie----yes!  And on  one occasion, even lingerie of dubious quality...
But if she wants sexy, she should try a really good, custom corset
business (like romantasy.com, of course!) or leather fetish store.
She should use her considerable power and name to support and
patronize a struggling erotic boutique that can barely survive the
conservative, regulation-prone, Christian backlash typical across America  today, directed against truly wonderful stores and courageous owners who  purvey truly sexy, harmless, and fun products!

I have a huge problem.  I desperately need to write to the Customer Service department at the Olga Lingerie Co.  I've done extensive searches, both online and through the phone company, but nobody seems to be able to direct me to an address or 800 number.
I know that Warncaco is the parent company...but I'm unable to get an E-mail or traditonal mailing address for them either.
Can you assist in any way...with sme method to contact these folks?  I simply want to inquire about a product.  Help!!!!!!!
