Business and Technology

What’s the value of Facebook to your business?
Yes, another article on Facebook, but we aren’t talking about the stock price value. We want to know what the value of Facebook to your business is, what are you getting out of updating your Facebook page and engaging with customers on Facebook (if you are). There is no doubt that there is some value in being on Facebook, but the question is how much time should you invest in it? You can only answer that question if you know how much sales revenue it is driving in your business. Unless you are a business such as Zynga, which makes money from selling games on Facebook, you probably aren’t getting direct revenue. A recent survey from eVOC insights showed that for those who have “liked” a brand on Facebook, 47% said it had no influence purchasing and 41% said they were somewhat more likely to purchase, and 13% said they were much more likely to purchase, (yes, that is 101%, but that is because they rounded the numbers). So with these numbers in hand we started asking businesses we know who use Facebook what they have been getting out it. These businesses each generate respective revenue, they simply could not tie any of the likes or comments directly to a customer they did not have before being “liked” or commented on Facebook. Our impromptu survey was not scientific, but nonetheless interesting. While some businesses may be getting revenue out of their Facebook page (and we would love to hear from those who are), you need to take a look at what your business investment spends on Facebook and see if it is worth what you are spending, (remember, your time is not free.) One thing we know for sure, all those investors who purchased Facebook stock are not getting what they expected from their investment. Make sure you are.

At Gozooko, the customer always comes first. Our lines of products are customer driven, and our goal is to meet your needs and to help your business grow. As always we welcome your comments and suggestions. We look forward to hearing from you. GozookoGuys@gozooko.com

Gold Tattoos by Temporary Tattoo MFG
Known as the “Shopping capital of the Middle East”, Dubai is known for spawning trends related to gold and the latest accessory trend for the fashion-conscious citizens of Dubai is a temporary tattoo made of real gold. These gorgeous hand applied tattoos are made with 24-carat gold.
Now a US company, Temporary Tattoo Mfg., inspired by this Dubai trend, has developed a simulated Gold Tattoo that will apply in just seconds and lasts for days, even while swimming and bathing…but can be easily removed with rubbing alcohol.
The look is identical to the hand applied Dubai tattoos that cost hundreds of dollars, but at a fraction of the cost.

The US product is offered in packages for retail that include a stunning collection of designs in each of the 3 versions. The company also provides Store Displays to retailers as well.
“These tattoos look absolutely gorgeous on the skin with lingerie and swimwear and are a fun accessory for any occasion,” said Joyce Bordelon, owner of Temporary Tattoo Mfg.
The Gold Tattoos come in attractive packaging and hold between 2 – 4 tattoo sheets, depending on the styles. Wholesale price points for the Gold Tattoos are extremely competitive for their quality and attractive packaging emphasized the company.

Private Label
Joyce also emphasized that Temporary Tattoo Mfg. also designs and produces custom designs and private label packaging.

Hanesbrands New Plans
Hanesbrands has revealed plans to cut the production of basic apparel used in screen printing, exit its private label business, the Outer Banks sportswear brand and sell its European operations in order to improve margins.
The clothing manufacturer will sell its European imagewear division to an affiliate of Smartwear for EUR15m (US$18.6m).
"We are a branded company. That includes being committed to branded printwear in the United States where we can partner with our wholesale customers to take advantage of our strong consumer brands and product differentiation," said Hanes chairman and CEO Richard Noll.
"With our exit from Europe, we can devote all of our energies to growing our branded portfolio in core geographies in the Americas and Asia."
The imagewear division accounts for some 8% of company revenue. It said that it expects to incur pre-tax charges of $85-95m, in the write off of intangibles, the loss on the sale of the European business, inventory markdowns, and other related items to the imagewear actions.
While it expects the move will reduce net sales by approximately $60m in the second half of the year, it will have an "insignificant impact on operating profit".
The company will rename its imagewear operations as branded printwear, which will be focused on Hanes and Champion branded products in the US.

Energy Efficient Nylon
      Technology
Nylon polymer producer Invista has invested more than $40m in research and development spanning four years on two continents to develop what it describes as "a revolutionary technology" to produce adiponitrile (ADN), a key ingredient for nylon 6,6.
While full details have yet to be released, the company claims benefits of the new technology include improved product yields, reduced energy consumption, lower CO2 emissions, enhanced process stability and reduced capital intensity compared to existing technologies.
Another environmental bonus is that it virtually eliminates benzene from the production process, resulting in significant benzene reductions.
"We believe this new generation of ADN technology represents a significant improvement versus the proprietary technology we operate today," said Bill Greenfield, executive vice president of Invista's nylon intermediates business.
The new technology has been operating for more than two years at a pilot-scale facility at its research and development center in Orange, Texas. Invista is now looking at installing it at its existing facilities in Orange and Victoria, Texas, as well as a plant being built in China.
"We are now ready to deploy the new technology at a commercial scale," added Greenfield.

Pretty Lights
Judi was sitting at the defendant table while the state trooper was being cross-examined on the witness stand.
The lawyer asked, "When you stopped Judi, were your red and blue lights flashing?"
"Yes, sir, they were."
"Did the defendant say anything when she got out of her car?"
"Yes, sir, she did."
"And," looking at Judi, "what was it she said?"
"She said, 'What disco am I at?'"
