Madonna Up for Grabs!
In "Up for Grabs," by Australian playwright David Williamson, Madonna portrays an art dealer who will do virtually anything to
make a sale. The play's lesbian kissing scene, a rather large sex aid, and some simulated masturbation stand out for their shock value. The pop star also gets to sing, of course.
While last night's celeb-packed audience gave Madonna a standing ovation, so far the critics have been lukewarm on her performance in the satire. The Daily Telegraph seems to sum up the general consensus in its review: "While she certainly isn't going to give Nicole Kidman or Gwyneth Paltrow any sleepless nights worrying about the competition, her performance is far from the disaster many were predicting and some were maliciously hoping for
