Intimate Graphics
Rubies
Offers New Playboy Costume Collection
by Luis
Paredes
Rubies, with its new
Playboy Costume Line is offering what no other Playboy Licensee has been
able to offer before - high quality and a reasonable price point at $25.
Mark Behar of Rubies explained that, "others have had the Playboy
license in the past and they tried capitalizing on it and really basically
- the only word I
can say - is gauging or charging a real premium for it."
"We have kept our prices low and the quality high. Every style in our
collection is $25 with the exception of the men's jacket. And at $25, it
really introduces a lot of people who wanted to buy Playboy in the past.
Now they can afford it. The retailer can make money and the end consumer
can run around with a Playboy outfit. It's a tremendous draw."
The new Playboy line includes a variety of styles including a Gangster
outfit and, of course, the iconic Heff Jacket for men and women.
"So far the response has been really strong," said Behar.
"The line will be available in August which gives people plenty of
time to merchandise it, set it up and get it ready for Halloween."

International Lingerie
Fashion Show
by Luis
Paredes
After months of doom and gloom on the news about the economy, poor retail sales, and job layoffs, buyers and exhibitors had high hopes (and fears) for this edition of the International Lingerie Show and Las Vegas Halloween Show in Las Vegas last month.
It's safe to say that hopes were fulfilled, even energized, and fears were
quashed as exhibitors noted increased numbers of buyers, more orders and an upbeat, fun, hopeful mood.
Buyers enjoyed a variety of deals from manufacturers and Specialty Trade Shows even printed a "Recession Fighter Show Special" book as a guide to all the great deals.
Both buyers and exhibitors were treated to a spectacular Fashion Show that drew a record number of viewers this year and lasted over two hours. "We had such a great response to the fashion show," said Michael Moreira of Specialty Trade Shows, Inc. "It was the biggest crowd we ever had and one of our best."
Warden Neil, designer for J'Taime, had one of his company's pieces displayed during the fashion show and said, "We were so happy at the response and lucky to have such a large crowd see our product."
New exhibitors to the show this year included Lingerie Belimages, Inc., Sweet Panties, and United Brands. In addition, there were some very unique exhibitors including Mask Venezia which makes handmade Venitian masks; professional make-up manufacturer Kryolan exhibiting airbrushed body paint and Dead Batteries, manufacturers of batteries wrapped in artistic and naughty coverings.
Moreira expects an even better show next year and promised to grow the Halloween section.
The International Lingerie Show will run again September 21 -23, 2009. The next edition to include the Adult Halloween
Costume show will be April 12-14, 2010.

written by Sam
Rubies Costume Company has obtained the costume and accessory license for Sasha Baron Cohen’s latest satire film “Bruno” hitting movie theaters this July 10th. Based on the incredible success of “Borat” Rubies expects the” Bruno” Film to have even greater success at the box office. Costumes and accessories will have a very significant impact on Halloween retail sales for the 2009 season. For further information about the styles you can visit

UK Lingerie Sales Up
Recession-hit UK couples are increasingly heading towards lingerie shops, and have boosted the sales of racy underwear by almost 50% ever since the economy has slumped. New figures have revealed that fishnet stockings, suspenders,
basques, and cleavage-boosting bras are all selling at a "record rate".
Department store Debenhams, which conducted the survey, has said that with the increased unemployment rates, thousands of British couples are now rediscovering the benefits of nights in.
"Losing a job is never good news, but our lingerie sales suggest that many people are using the opportunity to become fully employed at home,” Annette
Warburton, the store's head of lingerie buying was quoted as saying. Traditionally Christmas happens to be the peak season for sales of sexy underwear, with men being the biggest buyers as they choose
risqué clothing, which their partners may not think to buy for themselves.
However, for the first time, figures have shown that the Christmas peak has continued till May. In fact, initial figures for June have indicated that the upward trend is still on. Sales of fishnet stockings are up 83%, suspenders by 50%, and basques by 45%. Garters are also up by 71% and cleavage-boosting bras up 61%. Silk, satin, black lace and animal print are the most popular materials.
Feel Better
Mary was having a tough day and had stretched herself out on the couch to do a bit of what she thought to be well-deserved complaining and self- pitying.
She moaned to her mom and brother, "Nobody loves me.. the whole world hates me!"
Her brother, busily occupied playing a game, hardly looked up at her and passed on this encouraging word: "That's not true, Mary. Some people don't even know you."
Pakistani Textile Plants Closed
Many textile plants in Pakistan have closed their production in the
northern part of the country due to the law & order problems, high transportation costs, energy crisis and high production cost in the
country.
Around 10,000 people have lost their jobs due to the closure of Dewan Salman Fibers, Khyber Spinning Mills, Latif Shakir Textile
Mills, Tariq Textile Mills, Sahibzada Silk Mills during the past year.
Former central chairman of Pakistan Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), Ijaz Khokhar, said that many
textile plants in the northern part of the country have become unviable due to very high
transportation cost from mills to the seaport and other logistics and geographical disadvantages.
