Waterproofing Tape
A new seam sealing tape specifically designed to waterproof sewn
seams on lightweight, 2-layer fabrics and give a soft finish has been launched by Bemis Associates.
The product, ST-804, is a thermoplastic adhesive film applied to sewn seams of fabrics to prevent water from leaking through the
seams.
It has an engineered texture that gives a matte finish when sealed, and is also said to be suitable for use with popular stretch
fabrics used by brands and manufacturers.
Bemis has dedicated warehouse facilities in Asia, Europe, and the US which deliver seam tape to over 22 countries every year.

International Lingerie
Fashion Show

After months of doom and gloom on the news about the economy, poor retail sales, and job layoffs, buyers and exhibitors had high hopes (and fears) for this edition of the International Lingerie Show and Las Vegas Halloween Show in Las Vegas last month.
It's safe to say that hopes were fulfilled, even energized, and fears were
quashed as exhibitors noted increased numbers of buyers, more orders and an upbeat, fun, hopeful mood.
Buyers enjoyed a variety of deals from manufacturers and Specialty Trade Shows even printed a "Recession Fighter Show Special" book as a guide to all the great deals.
Both buyers and exhibitors were treated to a spectacular Fashion Show that drew a record number of viewers this year and lasted over two hours. "We had such a great response to the fashion show," said Michael Moreira of Specialty Trade Shows, Inc. "It was the biggest crowd we ever had and one of our best."
Warden Neil, designer for J'Taime, had one of his company's pieces displayed during the fashion show and said, "We were so happy at the response and lucky to have such a large crowd see our product."
New exhibitors to the show this year included Lingerie Belimages, Inc., Sweet Panties, and United Brands. In addition, there were some very unique exhibitors including Mask Venezia which makes handmade Venitian masks; professional make-up manufacturer Kryolan exhibiting airbrushed body paint and Dead Batteries, manufacturers of batteries wrapped in artistic and naughty coverings.
Moreira expects an even better show next year and promised to grow the Halloween section.
The International Lingerie Show will run again September 21 -23, 2009. The next edition to include the Adult Halloween
Costume show will be April 12-14, 2010.

Limited Brands Trying to
Raise $500M
Limited Brands Inc, operator of the Victoria’s Secret, Pink and La
Senza stores, hopes to raise $500m in a private offering.
The Columbus, Ohio-based company says it intends to use the proceeds of the offering to repurchase or repay existing debt and
for general corporate purposes.
It said the notes will be guaranteed by certain of the company's subsidiaries and will be due 2019.
Last month the retailer said its first quarter profit tumbled 92.8% to $2.6m as sales fell 10.4% to $1.76bn.

Lingerie Boutique Featured on Late Show with David Letterman
A West Virginia lingerie boutique was recently featured on a national late-night television talk show.
The Late Show with David Letterman featured an advertisement by the Lewisburg business, Little Black Black Box Lingerie, on June 9 during his
recurring skit called “Small Town Town News,” where the talk-show host
king pokes fun at newspaper clippings from across the United States.
Letterman held up a Little Black Box advertisement which ran in a local newspaper called The Pocahontas Times. Among lingerie items, the advertisement also said “located Behind Applebees.”
The advertisement prominently featured a model wearing a Shirley of Hollywood Asian tapestry corset that appears in Shirley’s “Big Book 2009.”
“Guess what? Located behind Applebees,” Letterman quipped. “That’s right, take mom and the kids to Applebees and then swing by and get a little something for yourself.”
Little Black Box owner Ginger Steele said she first heard about the business being on Letterman’s show when a man from Iowa contacted her on the Little Black Box MySpace Website page,
myspace.com/little_black_box_lingerie.
“It really took us by surprise to hear we were on the Letterman show,” Steele, who will celebrate her second-year anniversary this fall, said. “We’re unsure who sent our ad to them, but we would like to find out and thank them.”
Letterman was recently married and Steele wants to send his new bride a gift from her shop.
“We just want to say ‘thanks’ for showcasing our shop on national television,” Steele said. “It’s been a lot of fun. Letterman is a very private person, so I doubt if we will hear back from him.”
The skit runs about 17 minutes into the show and can be seen on CBS.com.
