Dogi's Sun-Blocking Fibers
Spain-based Dogi has launched a new line of functional stretch-fibers with sun-blocking benefits, the company announced in a statement.
The line will be available in July and sold to Dogi's swimsuit and sportswear clients which include the UK's Marks & Spencer.
Dogi said the fibers will provide SPF 50+ protection against the sun. The company said the market is increasingly demanding these types of products as global warming boosts concerns about the sun's damaging rays.
Dogi has been expanding aggressively in the functional textiles market and last year launched a new line of aloe-vera fibers.

Macy's Launches Skineez
       Skincarewear
Retailer Macy’s has launched a new women's shapewear collection for the first time in the US which combines cosmetics and textiles to smooth skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Skineez Skincarewear, which has been created by Clothes For A Cause and will be available exclusively at Macy's and on macys.com by the end of June.
The seamless garments are pre-treated with Skintex - a patented technology for embedding fabrics with microcapsules that contain natural-based ingredients to moisturize and smooth the skin.
"Body shapers continue to grow in popularity and demand among our customers," said Muriel Gonzalez, senior vice president of intimate apparel, Macy's Merchandising Group.
"The launch of this line represents a new era in undergarment and shapewear offerings, combining cosmetic benefits with desired daily contouring.
This technology has been a hit in Europe, and we are excited to be the first to bring it to market in the US."
The Skineez Skincarewear garment comes with its own bottle of Skintex skincare spray that can be reapplied after 6-10 washes to continue to produce results as long as it is worn.
The spray only works on Skineez Skincarewear garments because of the unique weaving of the fabric that holds the microcapsules, the company says.
Each garment also has built-in "compression points" for extra contouring where needed most.
The new line includes both a Thigh Slimmer and Waist Slimmer in nude and black.
The starter kit, including a small bottle of Skintex skincare spray, will retail for $68, while the Skintex formula will also be sold separately for reapplication for $20.

Van de Velde Purchases
              Sardá
Belgian lingerie company Van de Velde has agreed to buy Spanish rival Andres Sardá for a total of EUR14.6m (US$22.8m).
Van de Velde will use cash reserves to pay EUR11m for the Andres Sardá brand, plus an additional EUR3.6m for Eurocorset SA, the brand's holding company.
According to the deal, members of the Sardá family will remain involved with the company, playing a part in the future development of the brands.
Barcelona will be the base for Eurocorset and for Van de Velde in Spain.
"The Sardá brands will have a role as international premium brands in the worldwide brand portfolio of Van de Velde," said Ignace Van Doorselaere, Van de Velde CEO.
"Van de Velde sees high growth opportunities for the brands in existing and new markets. "This acquisition reflects our previously stated intention to strengthen our brand portfolio, especially in the premium segment and primarily with a southern European brand."
Founded in 1986, Sardá is a premium lingerie brand marketed in Spain and internationally by Eurocorset, along with its sister brands, Risk and University.
Eurocorset posted turnover of EUR13m and EBITDA of about EUR1m in 2007.
About one-third of the company's turnover comes from swimwear, and the remainder from lingerie. More than half its sales are in Spain, where the company has four shops, including one outlet store, run by subsidiary Su Distribuidora Sul Tu Corpo SL.
Eurocorset has 131 employees.

 Another Lawsuit for
     Victoria's Secret
Macrida Patterson is suing Victoria's Secret for an unspecified sum, after she claimed her cornea was severely damaged when a decorative metallic object flew off a thong she was trying on.
Patterson, 52, who is an officer with the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, has said she was injured last May.
She was trying on a "lowrise V-string," which is part of the Victoria's Secret "Sexy Little Thing" line, according to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
She claimed the accident caused her to miss several days of work.
Her lawyer, Jason Buccat, said that a "design flaw" with the skimpy garment was to blame.
He claimed the injury Patterson suffered would affect her for "the rest of her life".
The V-string is a variation on a G-string and is popular because it eliminates panty lines.
Victoria's Secret officials asked Patterson if they could examine the garment.
But she rejected their request on the advice of her lawyer.
