January 2007 Retailers'
        Sales Review

Kohl’s said its January same-store sales increased 8.7% as total sales grew 46.6% to $991.6m from $676.4m last year. 
Citi Trends said same-store sales for the five weeks ended February 3, increased 3.2% compared to 22.7% growth last year. Total net sales, meanwhile, jumped 73.5% to $36.2m from $20.9m a year ago. 
Gap Inc’s same-store sales were flat compared with a 1% rise last year. Net five-week sales grew 21.1% to $43.5m from $35.9m in the four-week period last year. 
Dillard’s said four-week comparable-store sales fell 3% with five-week total sales reaching $623.56m compared. 
AnnTaylor Stores posted same-store sale down 10.2% in January. Total sales increased 21% in the four-week period to $149.9m from $123.9m previously. 
Chico’s, which operates women’s specialty stores, reported comparable sales down 3.5%. Net sales grew 37.2% to $125.8m from $91.7m a year ago. 
American Eagle Outfitters posted a 17% comparable-store sales increase compared to last year’s 9% rise. Total sales were $207.1m compared to $130m previously. 
Cato Corporation’s comparable-store sales fell 7%, as total sales were $69.3m compared to $54.2m previously. 
Mothers Work reported a 6% same-store sales decrease compared to a 3.9% rise last year. Net sales fell 3.3% to $40.8m from $42.2m in January 2006. 
Bon-Ton said four-week comparable-store sales rose 6.4%. Total sales for the five weeks were up 283% to $240.6m compared to $62.8m last year. 
Wilsons The Leather Experts said same-store sales fell 20% in January, while five-week total sales were $25.7m compared to $27.4m last year. 
Ross Stores, same-store sales edged up 2%. Total January sales rose 38% to $399m from $289m the year before.
Hot Topic’s same-store sales were down 6.6%. This compared to a 0.7% drop in 2006. Net sales for the month were 26% higher than last year’s at $53.9m. 
Claire’s Stores’ comparable-store sales rose 3% compared to last year’s 8% rise. Total sales were up 39%.
United Retail Group, comparable-store sales increased 2% during the month compared to a 15% increase the year before. Net sales increased 29% to $35.9m from $27.7m in January 2006. 
Wet Seal’s January sales rose 3.6% on a same-store basis. Total sales in the five weeks of January rose to $43.9m from $30.2m in the four-week period ended Jan. 28, 2006.
Stage Stores said its same-store sales for the first four weeks were up 7.5% compared to an increase of 1.5% last year. Total sales for the five-week period ended February 3, were $99.5m compared to $66.1m previously. 
Bebe Stores said same-store sales in the four weeks were up 0.8% compared to a 9.8% rise last year. Net sales were up 35.5% in the monthly period. 
Jos A Bank reported a 4.7% fall in same-store sales as total net sales rose 17.6% to $546.4m from $464.6m last year. 
Limited Brands said same-store sales increased 11% in the five weeks to  February 4, with net sales totaling $1.06bn compared to $813.4m last year. 
Nordstrom said five-week sales were up 11.1% on a comparable basis and were $610.1m on a total basis compared to $431.2m last year. 
Saks’ same-store January sales were up 11.4%. Total four-week sales grew 13.2% to $182.8m. 
Deb Shops posted a 3.8% growth in same-store sales for January, while total sales fell 0.2% to $21.38m from $21.43m previously. 
Aeropostale reported a 5.4% rise in sales, with total net sales growing 41.1% to $90.4m from $64m last year. 
Abercrombie & Fitch said comparable-store sales fell 6% for the first month of the year. Net sales, meanwhile, were $252.3m, marking a 37% jump from last year’s net sales of $184.3m. 
JC Penney said comparable department store sales rose 3.6% compared with last year’s 2.5% gain, on a four-week basis. Total department store sales rose 5.5%. Internet sales increased 23.5% on top of a 28% increase last year. Total direct sales, which include internet, catalogue and outlet stores, decreased 1.5% t for the four-week period.
New York & Co reported a 2.3% fall in same-store sales during the four-week period as total sales were up 32.4% during the month to $83.7m from $63.2m previously. 
Federated Department Stores reported an 8.6% growth in same-store sales. Net sales rose 19% to $1.78bn from $1.50bn a year ago. 
Stein Mart’s comparable-store sales declined 1.9%, as net sales rose 24.8% to $100.1m from $80.2m.

David has been in the adult industry for many years and brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience with him. He has a strong understanding of retail, distribution, franchising, purchasing, marketing, and vendor relations. David will be assuming the duties of Connie Daeges who, after over 14 years with the company, will be greatly missed.
