   Spain's Next Target -
  Skinny Mannequins
First the models, now the mannequins.
The Spanish Ministry of Health inked an agreement with major fashion producers and local designers to "homogenize" retail and runway sizing, which means too-skinny store mannequins will be tossed aside for plumper versions.
In the fall, Madrid's regional government barred underweight models from local catwalk shows. Now it's the mannequins' turn.
Store mannequins, according to the dictum, must correspond to the Spanish population's normal body mass - or at least a European 38 ( US size 6) up to 46 ( US size 14), which at the retail level will no longer be considered a "fuller" figure.
The purpose of the agreement, which is based on a survey of 8,500 Spanish women between the ages of 12 and 70, is to promote an image of good health, while providing consumers with more accurate sizing information. Supporters include Spain's largest department store chains, El Corte Ingles, Inditex, Mango and Cortefiel.
It will be implemented progressively over an 18-month time frame.

           Anti-Farty Pants
Letting loose in public may become less of a social faux pas with a new kind of underwear that promises to keep the air flatulence-free.
"Anti-farty pants" vow to stifle those nasty odors and help gassy individuals "relieve the pain without the shame."
Under-Tec underwear makers have designed new "gas eater" underpants, an airtight undergarment that helps keep flatulence under wraps.
The pants have a built in replaceable filter that cuts the smell of bad human gas. Happy customers cited on the Under-Tec Web site include those suffering from Crohn's Disease and Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome.
Testimonials on the Web site include: "Thank you. You saved my life. I can now go to school without worry" and "They really are working for me, an answer to my prayers because I like to wear them when I go out."

As well as allowing shoppers to see swimsuits in all colors and styles from front and back views, the tool also features a ‘Shop By Body Shape’ option.
"This fun and easy-to-use tool will be invaluable in helping customers find the perfect swimsuit for body types ranging from petite to tall and summer activities from weekends at the lake to beach vacations," said Lisa Erickson, Eddie Bauer spokesperson.

Kiwi Airport Bans
        Hawkins Ad
New Zealand's Auckland Airport has banned a billboard lingerie advertisement; featuring Former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins clad in a lacy bra and holding a stuffed rhino with a cut line' Feeling Horny'.
The airport officials turned down the commercial, that they thought has gone a 'step too far'.
"The bottom line is the airport has a vast array of people of different nationalities, different ages, and our view was that it was just not in keeping with general airport image and brand," Nick Forbes was quoted as saying.
However, Forbes felt that is was unjust to say that the airport management did not have a sense of humor.
"If you straw-polled most of the people around our office they just had a good laugh and think it's great. On a personal level I don't really have an issue and not many people probably do but we've got to try and be sensitive, "he said.
Forbes added that even earlier, the airport had turned down only billboards that they thought were 'inappropriate'.

Blonde Negotiations
A blond is driving down the street in a sweat because she has an
important meeting and can't find a parking place. Looking up toward heaven, she says, "Oh, Lord, please take pity on me. If you find me a parking place I will go to church every Sunday for the rest of my life, and I'll give up men and booze."
Miraculously, a parking place appears! She looks up again and
says, "Never mind Lord, I found one!"

Dita Von Teese & Manson
           Divorce
Manson counter-filed for divorce in an attempt to block Von Teese from being awarded spousal support, although the burlesque performer did not request it when she filed her own divorce petition December 29.
Her heavily made-up hubby has also stated that he wants Von Teese to pay her own attorney fees, while she has requested that he pay for the breakup proceedings.
The duo did agree, however, on the cause of the split—irreconcilable differences across the board.
Manson has since been linked to 19-year-old Evan Rachel Wood, who stars in the hard rocker's upcoming feature directorial debut, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll. Manson has stated that his aim for the film is to "redefine the horror genre."
While part of the blame for Manson's impending divorce has been placed on his increasingly hard-partying ways over the past year, it's his relationship with Wood which is also being floated around as a contributing factor.

Duro Textiles Fined
Fall River company Duro Textiles has agreed it will pay a US$480,000 federal fine for illegally dumping polluted wastewater into the local sewer system.
The Environmental Protection Agency discovered that three of Duro’s plants had repeatedly violated legal limits on acidic and alkaline wastewater discharged into the Fall River sewer system.
The type of wastewater found to be discharged is corrosive and can damage sewer piping and water-treatment plant equipment.
The agency also accused the firm of failing to routinely inspect potential sources of storm water contamination, such as outdoor fuel tanks, and failed to keep an incinerator temperature high enough to sufficiently destroy certain emissions that cause ground-level ozone, a serious air problem in New England.
As well as the fine, Duro has made changes to comply with federal pollution laws, and has also agreed to further penalties if it commits future violations.
Additionally, it will pay stipulated penalties should any future pH violations of its wastewater effluents occur.
“While we are pleased that Duro has continued the tradition of Massachusetts textile operations when so many other companies have shut down or moved abroad, it is critically important that Duro comply with federal air and water pollution laws,” said Michael J Sullivan, US attorney.
