Tagless, Seamless, Stichless
iBra
Intimate apparel maker Wacoal is launching its completely
stitchless, seamless and tagless contour bra in the UK in February.
The iBra uses technologically-advanced manufacturing techniques to eliminate all stitches, seams and tags, leaving nothing but a
smooth fabric surface against the body.
The underwire is comfortably hidden and sealed between fabric layers, so there is no stitching against the body. The extremely
lightweight and soft fabric of Tactel nylon and Lycra spandex provides comfortable support across the bra’s size range.
The iBra will be available in four colors that blend with most skin
tones (black, naturally nude, suntan and milk chocolate), and will
come in sizes 32-36 (B, C, D) and 38 (B, C), retailing for about
US$79.24.

Federated Projects Q1
Profit Loss
Federated Department Stores has cut its profit guidance for the
2006 financial year.
The company projected a loss of 5 cents, to 15 cents per share, on sales of US$5.75bn to $6bn – less than Wall Street
expectations of profits of 70 cents a share.
Federated chairman, president and chief executive Terry Lundgren said: "While 2006 is a transition year, we expect significant
improvement in 2007 and a return to our historical peak levels of
profitability, adjusted for the impact of the sale of credit portfolios, by the 2008-2009 period."
Retail industry analyst Burt Flickinger stated: "For the first time in nearly five years, there is a real softness in the upper-tier
department store sector. Middle- to mid-upper-income consumers are more cash and credit constrained."

Bidding War Over G+G
A bidding war is breaking out over the assets of bankrupt teen apparel chain G+G Retail Group, with BCBG MaxAzria Group submitting an offer to rival one already put forward by specialty retailer Wet Seal.
G+G filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on January 25, and said it had struck a purchase agreement to be bought by Wet Seal for US$15.2m.
But in a new court filing, BCBG said it would pay $15.2 million in cash, pay G+G's unsecured creditors $22 million over five years, provide more than $20 million of fresh inventory and rehire more than half of the retailer's terminated employees.
G+G operates 566 stores in the US and Puerto Rico.
A Letter to Tide
Dear Tide:
I am writing to say what an excellent product you have! I've used it all through my
married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best.
Now that I am in my fifties, I find it even better!
In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and
uncaring husband started to berate me about how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming a pain
in the neck.
One thing led to another and somehow I ended up with a lot of his blood on
my white blouse. I tried to get the stain out using a bargain detergent, but it
just wouldn't come out. After a quick trip to the supermarket, I purchased a
bottle of liquid Tide with bleach alternative, and to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the stains came out!
In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on
my blouse were negative and then my attorney called and said that I would no longer be considered a
suspect in the disappearance of my husband.
What a relief! Going through menopause is bad enough without being a murder suspect! I thank you, once
again, for having such a great product.
Well, gotta go. I have to write a letter to the Hefty bag people.

Lingerie... For Your iPod?
Do you love your iPod? How much? Enough to buy it a sexy red negligee for Valentine's Day?
Apparently committed to promoting domestic harmony between iPods and their owners, Los Angeles-based iPod accessory maker
iAttire has come out with a Valentine 2006 line so you can romance your beloved MP3 player with more than just an FM transmitter or a new set of earbuds.
The handcrafted Valentine's Day line ranges in price from $25 to $60--features a sheer red negligee with a black chiffon ruffle; a French satin corset cinched with black lacings; and men's cotton boxers and briefs (with matching undershirts) adorned with stripes, hearts or polka dots.
Designed to be replicas of people attire, the products fit and wear just like those you might select for yourself, the company
says-- though it could be argued that the average iPod lacks the bodaciousness
to pull off the racier wear.

Ultimo's Top Choices
Desperate Housewives beauties Eva Longoria and Nicollette Sheridan are reportedly top choices to replace Rachel Hunter as the new body of Ultimo underwear.
Supermodels Heidi Klum and Cindy Crawford are also rumored to be in the running for the role, occupied by Hunter since 2004 when she replaced Rod Stewart's fiancé Penny Lancaster.
A source says, "A decision will be made in the next couple of weeks. The current favorites are Eva and Nicollette - with Eva way out in front.
"The American connection is important as Ultimo is about to hook up with a big New York store. Rachel's modeling of Ultimo bras and lingerie has generated $32 million of publicity in two years. Having someone like Eva on board will double or triple that."

French Connection Denies Russian Market Rumor
A spokesperson for retailer French Connection has denied a
rumor that the company is set to re-launch on the Russian market.
A newspaper had reported that French Connection had secured a deal with Russia-based ABM Holding for a chain of franchised stores.
However, a spokesperson said that the company had nothing to report on any deals for the Russian market.
She said: "We are in negotiations with lots of companies in
different countries at the moment but there is no specific focus on
Russia."
The spokesperson added: "The company will make any announcements as and when deals happen."

Gap Introduces Petite
& Tall Women's Ranges
Apparel giant Gap has introduced petite and tall sizes for women,
available exclusively at its Gap.com website.
The lines are aimed at women who fall into the 5 feet, 4 inches or 5 feet, 11 inches categories.
Gap.com vice president and general manager Felix Carbullido commented: "Petite and tall female consumers have traditionally
been underserved by the apparel market.
"We’re excited to introduce petite and tall sizes to better meet consumers’ needs and offer them Gap’s great casual styles in sizes
that will fit them better than ever."
The new petite and tall product offering mirrors the design and styles of the Gap women’s line, but several product alterations
have been made in order to perfect the new ranges, such as narrowed shoulders, longer sleeves and higher/lower armholes.

Couple Charged With
Lingerie Scam
An alert clerk at a Victoria's Secret store in a New York City suburb helped trap two suspected con artists who allegedly ran an underwear scam for months.
Michael Adams made the clerk at the Oceanside store suspicious as he was trying to return almost $300 worth of dainty under things because he refused to fill out a form with his name and address.
"He slipped up because he refused to fill out the form," said Lt. John May of Nassau County said.
May said Adams and his alleged sidekick, a 16 year old girl, bought stolen items and then matched them at stores, obtaining both a regular receipt and a gift receipt. The pair allegedly used the receipts to return both items for cash.
Police say stolen items recovered after the arrests include pink silk pajamas and a sexy "Santa sack" in red with a matching hat.
