Kohl's To Launch Vera
Wang Campaign
Kohl's Corp. will launch an ad campaign this fall in conjunction with the Sept. 9 debut of its largest product line, "Simply Vera," by Vera Wang.
The mid-price point line will offer clothing, lingerie, accessories and a collection of soft home products designed by the high-end designer. Replacing Kohl's back-to-school campaign, Simply Vera ads will be a combination of television, print and billboard media, with an emphasis on a "Wizard of Oz" theme.
While many speculate about the implications the line will have for both Vera Wang and Kohl's, Ann Brouwer of Chicago-based consulting firm McMillan/Doolitle said Kohl's growth and higher sales have come from the more fashion-forward designs they've offered.

The Confession
Jake was dying. His wife sat at the bedside.
He looked up and said weakly, "I have something I must confess."
"There's no need to," his wife replied.
"No," he insisted, "I want to die in peace. I slept with your sister, your best friend, her best friend, and your mother!"
"I know, I know," she replied. "Now just rest and let the poison work."

New Outfits for Undie
Clad Shoppers
A new store at Ocean Terminal is offering free clothes to brave shoppers who turn up to its grand opening in their underwear.
Boutique chain Joy will give free clothes to the first 25 scantily-clad people who visit their store when it is officially unveiled.
A spokesman for the company said: "The first 25 risqué participants will indulge in the ultimate shopping experience and those that dare to bare will be awarded with a brand new Joy outfit."
The Leith outlet will be the first the clothing company has opened in Edinburgh.

Electronic Hanger for
Smart Garments
Researchers from the University of South Australia have devised
electronic clothes hangers that can download health data captured by smart garments with electronic sensors that monitor heart rates,
blood pressure and other medical information.
This is then downloaded by the hangers to a computer in a specially-designed wardrobe. Meanwhile the electronic hangers
recharge the smart garments - which could be a T-shirts or jackets - so they can be worn again.
Professor Bruce Thomas said the wardrobe can hold several pieces so wearers can continually wear smart garments if one needs to be
cleaned, making such health monitoring more practical.
"For continuous monitoring, you can take off one garment and put on another smart garment so, instead of having just one heart monitor,
you can have a wardrobe of them," he said.
The wardrobe has wires connecting the hanger rail it to a computer in the furniture's base. When the electronic hangers - each with their
own computer ID - are placed on the rail, sensors detect them and the attached garments, allowing data downloading to begin.

Sears' Virtual Shopping
Experience
Sears has developed a virtual shopping experience for children that allows them to dress a virtual model in clothes they might like to buy.
The E-Me shopping experience was developed in partnership with myvirtualmodel.com and meez.com.
After creating a personalized E-Me, or avatar, a site visitor can
dress it in a wide selection of Sears apparel and shoes, and save the selections in his or her closet. By printing the E-Me and closet and
bringing a copy into the store, parents receive a 10% discount on those items.
"The Sears E-Me is all about making back-to-school shopping easier for mom and a lot more fun for kids," said Paul Miller, senior vice
president of direct commerce for Sears Holdings. "The site also shows moms and kids that Sears has great looks for back-to-school, from The
Cheetah Girls exclusive line and colorful cameo skorts to hot jean looks and hoodies."
Other elements of the site include an E-Me Fashion Show, where
children can submit their E-Me outfits to be rated by other site
users, a variety of interactive backdrops allowing E-Mes to dance, flip burgers and more. An E-Me and closet can be saved from session to session and no personal information is requested from users.

Shanghai to Host Sex Show
The Chinese city of Shanghai is hosting the fourth China
International Adult Toys and Reproductive Health Exhibition, Asia's largest adult show, a first in a largely conservative country.
The Shanghai International Exhibition Center in Changning District is showcasing lingerie and adult toy displays, and will also feature lectures by international sexologists on sex history and healthcare.
The exhibition will also feature ancient sexual relics including archaic ceramic models, a 9,000-year-old China Goddess statue and other collections never before displayed by China's Ancient Chinese Sex Culture Museum, according to its executive curator Hu Hongxia.
A majority of the visitors to the three-day event said they were curious to know how the Chinese would react to such an exhibition, as discussions on sex in the country is taboo.
"Shanghai is an international city, so the residents may have more contact with foreigners and more often hear about new opinions. But I guess most of people won't go there because it's not part of their habits to mention sex openly," one of the visitors was quoted as saying.
"Sex is a part of being human and good sex is part of a quality life," said Liu Dalin, a renowned sex expert and founder of China's first sex museum in East China's Jiangsu Province.
Statistics released recently by China's sex products sales network revealed that Shanghai ranks are the third biggest consumers sex products, following Beijing and Guangdong.
