Lipgloss & Lace
                         by Mandie Mutchie
Cheers to new experiences!

As you know, a little over a year ago (when this column started actually being consistent again), I quit my day job as a teacher to pursue my dreams as a model and makeup artist, and have since become a beachbody coach as well. Well, July has been an AMAZING month for me in that respect! On July 19th, I officially became what is called a "diamond" beachbody coach. You most likely don't know what that means, but it's an exciting honor and accomplishment!

Then, two days later, I headed down to Chicago and was involved in my first fashion show as a makeup artist, and let's just say, I didn't start small!

BCBG had their pre-fall show, and it was BEAUTIFUL! I was delighted to see gorgeous color-blocking and lace detail reminiscent of lingerie! Here are some pictures of our makeup setup (and you can see my Tia Lyn zebra bag on the table), as well as the models and some of their looks.

I got to meet Lubov Azria, who was beautiful inside and out, and got an amazing gift bag with a beautiful clutch and adorable cell phone holder (which is so absurd & not completely my style, but I use it anyway, because it's a reminder of a great night!

You may be wondering... Why is she sharing this? What does this have to do with the normal scope of Lipgloss & Lace, or even McPete Sez?

Well, ever since I set out to make my dreams come true, I have felt so many amazing feelings. It has not been an easy road, but I can definitely tell you that it has been incredible, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I wish that more people got to experience this feeling... Of course, for most people, this feeling may not come from helping people reach their weight loss goals (let me know if you need that, though!), doing makeup for a major fashion show (and u, or being a part of an amazing photoshoot... Everyone has a different dream life. But I want people to have the feeling that when they're in their car, they are so excited about something coming up that they scream and laugh, or when they get off the phone, they have to flop on the bed and kick and laugh (if you're not picturing Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, you should be). If you need inspiration or have questions, look me up! More advice would be to read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - it's an amazing, inspiring story about a shepherd who chases his dreams!

The second reason I felt this would be a great addition to my column is a result of the BCBG Pre-Fall line. Like I said, there were gorgeous lace details (I WANT!)... What makes this relevant to you is this - you should be thinking, more now than ever, how can I market my lingerie (whether it's your line, or the lines in your store) as a good integrating piece with outerwear? I feel like that's DEFINITELY a trend alert for Fall, so it might be a good thing to add to your printed/online marketing materials, or your in-store displays!

Remember - follow your dreams!

xoxo,

Mandie

    New Fashion Focused,
Full- Busted Intimate Apparel Brand Curveturiere to Launch
        August 2012
Curveturiere, a New York-based, better intimates company, announced the August 2012 launch of Curveturiere Intimates. Curveturiere brings fashion, trend and glamour to classic full-cup foundation silhouettes. Each style has been constructed with the utmost attention to fit, comfort, and support. Bras are available in sizes 32 to 48/50 D through K and bottoms in XS to 3XL.
Curveturiere co-creators / founders, Kelly Moore and Mary Pifko, not only combine 25-plus years of experience in the intimates industry… they also identify with the Curveturiere woman’s quest to find pretty and fashionable intimates through their own personal struggles to find full-busted foundations.
“You have no idea the frustration you feel when shopping store after store, even stores that claim to focus on full-cup, only carry sizes up to a DD or DDD…. then if you do find your size, you can spend up to $100, only to be offered color options in nude, black, and white,” said Mary Pifko, co-creator/founder of Curveturiere. She went on to say, “I was an intimates buyer with brand relationships across the industry and still could not find my size. I am a natural 32F. Living and working in the fashion industry, I wanted the same options of color, trend, and fashion in my intimates as my clothing and accessories. After 10-plus years of searching in vain, I said to my friend and co-creator/founder, Kelly Moore, ‘Let’s create our own line!’ ”

The Curveturiere line will consist of a full lifestyle collection of bras, panties, and sleepwear. Purposely curated to allow the customer to mix and match her foundations to her every need, the collection is a reflection of their tagline … After too many years of staring at a black and white lingerie drawer, we ask you…“Who wants to live life in neutral?” The collection focuses on color and trend while staying true to the fit and function this full-busted customer demands.
“The average bra size in America is now a 36DD. This is a drastic change from 5 years ago, where the average size was a 36C, 10 years ago the average size was a 34B. This customer is clearly underserved and vocal about her lack of options in the market,” said co-creator/founder Kelly Moore. “After really digging into this market we have found such a grassroots community of full-busted women eager to share their knowledge and experiences with one another. Because Mary and I identify so closely with this customer we wanted to create not just a beautiful product but a community. We want to give the Curveturiere woman an outlet to share trend and fashion information, figure- related problem solving tips, healthy living advice, recipes, exercises to keep her curves, beauty advice, and other full-bust finds through the use of blogs and social media.”
Curveturiere will launch in New York City on August 6th in their 7th Avenue showroom with a private cocktail preview reception of their Spring 2013 Collection for buyers, bloggers, and press. The full Spring 2013 line will debut in Las Vegas, August 21st, at the Curve Intimates Trade Show. With Love Lingerie Unveils Bridal Capsule Collection
at The Designer Showcase
               in NYC
With Love Lingerie announces that the Spring Summer 2013 collection will be unveiled during lingerie market week August 5th to the 8th 2012 at the AKA Hotel, Times Square, NYC. The Showcase gives buyers the opportunity to meet one-on-one with the With Love designer in a relaxed setting.
The Designer Showcase is a tradeshow for indie lingerie designers to show their innovative, personal and unique collections to buyers interested in adding something new and exciting to their boutique clients. With Love designer Carrie Russell is excited about her newest additions to the line and describes the line as,
“perfect for the return of the trousseau. Obviously I’m a lingerie enthusiast but I feel like even the most bashful person is excited to buy her wedding lingerie. Your wedding dress is your public statement and your bridal lingerie is the personal wink to your partner. It’s like saying to your spouse,” this is only a piece of what to look forward to in our partnership”

The designs in the new collection are demure and elegant but with sheer, lace and satin detailing that make the pieces suitable for not only the first time blushing bride but the more mature woman looking forward to her second honeymoon. Extending the size range to include up to size 16 has boosted interested in the line and Russell is proud to offer her pieces for women of a variety of body types. Still made in Canada, With Love’s newest collection also features quite a few hand details like mother of pearl and mesh floral motifs as well as tastefully placed Swarovski crystals for a subtle boudoir glamour.
With Love will be participating in the media and networking event on August 4th Buyers and Media/Press are welcome to attend the “Intimate Affair” by R.S.V.P or they can register to view the collection during Market Week. Bodi Spa: Coming to ILS Show in Las Vegas in September
Bodi Spa has developed the Bodi Spa Line, a variety of new products for the ever-demanding marketplace of massagers and adult novelties. The line will be introduced to distributors at the ILS show in Las Vegas, September 10th through September 12th.
Alain Elmaleh, General Manager of the Bodi Spa line has been actively working to develop this new line of personal massagers, vibrators and wellness products for over a year now. “After extensive market research, we’ve been noticing a favorable change in the way women perceive adult toys. As a result more and more of them wish they could buy these items in mainstream stores, such as classy lingerie and couples stores, rather than adult bookstores and sex shops, which for the majority are geared more towards a male clientele.”
The Bodi Spa packaging has been specifically designed to reflect the change of attitude by women towards toys. The Bodi Spa Line was conceived to look to be a mainstream, therapeutic line of products rather than ordinary sex toys. “This is the reason why you won’t see any naked women or men featured on any of the packaging.”
In terms of the products themselves, the line is composed of a handful of carefully chosen tasteful items ranging from the very big massagers and vibrators such as the Almighty, the wonderwand, the wonderwand + (rechargeable) to the medium range vibrators such as the Must and the Ultimate (rechargeable), to the smaller, more discreet vibrators such as the G, the wavy, and The Egg. There are also 4 different models of high performance vibrating cock rings. There are presently 20 different items in the Bodi Spa lineup, and another dozen items will be released before the end of 2012.
Bodi Spa will also launch 3 “Grey Shades Pouch” light fetish and bondage toy kits, based on the huge global success of the trilogy of books, “Fifty Shades of Grey”, which has generated an increased interest and demand for fetish and light bondage toys such as blindfolds, ball gags, handcuffs, and other items. “The ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ phenomenon has brought the whole toy industry a bit closer to the mainstream market. Therefore we are convinced that our approach in term of packaging and choice of toys is the correct one going forward.”
A vast array of promotional items such as dispensers, racks, posters, pamphlets, and more will be made available to retailers in order to promote the line efficiently, and also to educate customers with the various functions (therapeutic and pleasurable) of these products.
Visit the bodi spa website at www.bodi-spa.com visit us at booth 322 during the ILS in Las Vegas from Sept 10th through Sept 12th.

New in at Esty Lingerie: Flirty Thirtys Luxury Nightwear
Affordable, handmade sleepwear in UK sizes 8 to 22
Esty Lingerie have recently launched a fantastic new brand in their expanding online boutique. Flirty Thirtys is a beautiful collection of vintage-inspired sleepwear and loungewear that is hand-crafted to order in Kent, UK, in as little as seven days.
Inspired by Hollywood starlets of the forties and fifties, the range includes a selection of silk camisole sets, a crepe de chine romper and a small collection of deluxe French knickers and garters in antique white and baby blue for the lucky bride.

The most breathtaking piece of all however is the Hollywood robe, a show-stopping, floor-sweeping dressing gown in silky soft satin that is available in antique white or jet black and with an optional lace yolk at the back. Taking its inspiration from the glamorous sirens of the silver screen, it's easy to imagine Miss Monroe sweeping around her dressing room in this beautiful satin robe!
Best of all, Flirty Thirtys is available to all women thanks to it's UK 8 to 22 size range and it's amazingly affordable prices, which start at just £10 for a garter and go up to £95 for the lace-trimmed version of the Hollywood robe.

The Good Old Days
Grandpa and Grandma were sitting in their porch rockers watching the beautiful sunset and reminiscing about "the good old days," when Grandma turned to Grandpa and said, "Honey, do you remember when we first started dating and you used to just casually reach over and take my hand?"
Grandpa looked over at her, smiled and obligingly took her aged hand in his.
With a wry little smile, Grandma pressed a little farther, "Honey, do you remember how after we were engaged, you'd sometimes lean over and suddenly kiss me on the cheek?"
Grandpa leaned slowly toward Grandma and gave her a lingering kiss on her wrinkled cheek.
Growing bolder still, Grandma said, "Honey, do you remember how, after we were first married, you'd kind of nibble on my ear?"
Grandpa slowly got up from his rocker and headed into the house. Alarmed, Grandma said, "Honey, where are you going?"
Grandpa replied, "To get my teeth!"
