Hanesbrands Q2 Soars
               125%
Apparel maker Hanesbrands, the company behind brands such as Champion, Wonderbra, Playtex and Bali, saw its second quarter profit more than double, despite a 4.4% reduction in sales. 
The company, which specializes in T-shirts and intimate apparel, posted a profit of $57.3m, a 125% jump over last year's $25.4m for the three months to June 28. 
Diluted earnings per share soared by 130% to US$0.60. 
EPS for the first half was up 149% to $0.97. Second quarter net sales fell 4.4% to $1.07bn, while operating profit for the period was up 28% to $113.1m. 
First half operating profit was up 28% to $200.9m. 
Hanesbrands said the sales decline reflected the "challenging" sales environment and later back-to-school shipments. 
Intimate apparel was particularly affected by soft sales, but international sales were up 20% in the quarter. 
"We were pleased with continued earnings per share growth as a result of executing our improvement strategies, despite operating in a tough economic environment," said Hanesbrands CEO Richard A Noll. 
"Most of our business improvement initiatives are working, but we are continuing to address sales declines, which were primarily centered around intimate apparel product categories." 
The company said its profitability had benefited from cost reduction efforts, including operating fewer and larger facilities in lower-cost countries, distribution center streamlining and organization consolidation.

Mendes' New Calvin 
   Klein Campaign
Eva Mendes will soon be making men’s hearts skip a beat, as she’s getting set to pose for a new Calvin Klein underwear campaign. 
The gorgeous actress will show off her perfect body wearing nothing but Klein’s classy lingerie in the label's new Seductive Comfort line show. 
The new bras will be available in stores later this year. 
Recently, the 30-year-old Eva lavished praise for the media for not “trashing” her rehab stint. 
Eva had entered Utah''s Cirque Lodge centre in February this year. 
As for the reason why she entered rehab, it has been said that she had to “proactively” attend to "some personal issues".

Exact Change
A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him.
The waitress asks them for their orders.
The man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke,' and turns to the ostrich, 'What's yours?'
'I'll have the same,' says the ostrich.
A short time later the waitress returns with the order 'That will be $9.40 please,' and the man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment.
The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke.'
The ostrich says, 'I'll have the same.'
Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.  This becomes routine until the two enter again. 'The usual?' asks the waitress.
'No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad,' says the man.  'Same,' says the ostrich.
Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, 'That will be $32.62.'
Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table.
The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. 'Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?'
'Well,' says the man, 'several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.'
'That's brilliant!' says the waitress. 'Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!'
'That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,' says the man.
The waitress asks, 'What's with the ostrich?'
The man sighs, pauses and answers, 'My second wish was for a tall chick with a big butt and long legs who agrees with everything I say.'

Curve Ahead
As Curvexpo, Inc is wrapping up the preparation of its summer shows, it emerges as the driving force in North America. CURVENV Las Vegas managed in four seasons only to be the sole independent show in the West dedicated to lingerie and swimwear. This will be the first edition of an event to be repeated every Monday of each upcoming New York market week.
Also on August 4 at 3:00pm, Liz Smith of the Wacoal Group and a regular of many television programs hosted by Oprah and US Today, will conduct a seminar entitled 411 Fit Solution or how to engage the customer and propose wardrobe solutions.
In Las Vegas, on Tuesday, August 26, an extravagant show called the Splash Party will present the new lingerie and swimwear collections at the Tao in the Venetian Hotel. 
CURVE continues to move forward with a strong group of brands exhibiting for the first times in New York and Las Vegas. Furthermore, Boutique Lingerie will have a much larger representation with many newcomers and to top it off, the most important US corporations will be present. All elements are in place for successful shows both in New York and Las Vegas.
