Madonna Signs on as Pitch Woman for Gap Stores
She made her name wearing risque, provocative clothes few would wear in public, but now Madonna has become a pitch woman for Gap Inc. -- the biggest U.S. clothing store chain.
Back in the 1980s, Madonna burst onto the scene wearing lingerie and pointy bras designed by haute couture master Jean Paul Gaultier. Now the Material Girl is hawking the khakis and denims that are the most common clothes worn by Americans.
The pop star will appear in Gap's fall advertising campaign, spokeswomen for both parties said on Wednesday.    San Francisco-based Gap, the biggest U.S. specialty retailer, said the company has signed Madonna as well as rapper Missy Elliott to appear in upcoming television commercials.
More than anything else, Madonna is known, both musically and fashion wise, as a chameleon able to reinvent her image to stay on the cutting edge of pop culture. Gap made its name by selling predictable, preppy, affordable clothing that appeals more to average Americas than to fashion mavens.
Marketing experts applauded the move as a coup for Gap.

    Victoria's Secret goes Leather
Victoria's angels are getting an edge. Perhaps motivated by another group of angels' (Charlie's, that is) kick-butt attitudes and tough spirit, Victoria's Secret is launching a new line of lingerie that substitutes leather for lace and silver chains for pink ribbons.
The Rock Inspired Lingerie collection is unlike anything that has graced the racks of the infamous boudoir boutique before. Usually known for feminine creations guaranteed to make men go weak at the knees, Victoria's Secret is taking a turn that is definitely not for the faint at heart. In fact, some men might tremble in fear when they see the rhinestones and grommets adorning a zippered leather thong.
And the looks fit for a torture chambermaid don't stop there. The black leather bra comes complete with hanging silver loops and chains, and one brief is so laden with punk rock pendants, it will surely set the metal detectors off on full alert. Plain old under-wire bras have created enough airport security problems -- imagine having to explain this one to the guards.
For those who like to walk on the slightly tamer side, the chain mail mini-skirt and tank are perhaps better options. Just don't walk the streets at night in this outfit with your four-inch heels: You might just get arrested.
The ad campaign for the new collection features a vamped-up Gisele sitting atop a steel blue speaker wearing the chain tank, thong and heels with buckles laced all the way up her leg.
The 50-piece collection will be available at select VS stores only, including the Herald Square and Upper West Side stores in New York, the Beverly Center in LA, and Valley Fair in San Jose.

   Underwear Lady' shows off drawer-fulls
                at Minn. museum

If you want to see Linda McShannock's underwear you'll have to travel to Minnesota.
If you want to touch it you'll have to wear white gloves. And don't even ask to try it on -- there's just no way.
Linda has so much intimate apparel her friends have given her a nickname.
"I get introduced as the Underwear Lady on the street," says the tall, slender curator of the largest collection of undergarments in the world.
I didn't know this when I approached her Thursday on the street after overhearing her talking about the day she went on the radio to talk about underwear.
It took some urging from her friends -- fellow students in a textiles workshop in Lincoln -- but Linda agreed to talk underwear before she left town and went back to her job at the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul.
Technically, she's the curator of textiles and clothing at the museum, but the strange thing is nobody wants to bend her ear about 19th century trousers or Victorian lace collars.  As much as she wishes they might.

If you still have that dog-eared pullout of Cindy Crawford in a skin-suit from a 1988 issue of Playboy, or better yet one of Brigitte Nielsen covered with a fish net from the year before, you can now own the real thing.
On December 17, Christie's will auction off more than 300 items from Playboy's renowned archives at its New York house at Rockefeller Center. Celebrating in conjunction with the skin magazine's 50th anniversary, Christie's will feature a collection of manuscripts, artwork, paintings and photographs that have made an impact on American pop culture over half a century.

C.E.O. D.U.M.B
One day a secretary is leaving on her lunch break, and she notices her boss standing in front of a shredder with a clueless look on his face. The secretary walks up to him and asks if he needs help.
"Yes!" he says looking and sounding relieved, "This is very important."
Glad to help, she turns the shredder on and inserts the paper. Then her boss says, "Thanks, I only need one copy."
