UK: Lingerie Firm Axes 18 Jobs In Offshore Move 
Underwear and hosiery manufacturer Challioner and Walker is to axe all UK production this summer with the loss of 18 jobs as it looks to source overseas instead, it was revealed on Monday.
The Bolton-based company, owned by Caldwell Investments Plc, has placed its 18 production staff on a three-month notice but has not revealed which country it plans to move production to, This Is Bolton reported.
GMB union official Graham Wells, who represents the firms employees, told the paper: "If they were moving production to another EU country, they would be getting a much bigger pay-out and negotiations would have gone on for longer. 
"This government is not doing enough to make it harder for firms to move their operations abroad where, at the moment, they can have goods manufactured much cheaper."

Care for Your Lingerie
Take care of your lingerie as you would take care of any investment you make. Fine lingerie must be treated with appropriate care. Your goal is to
make it last a long time. This means your lingerie needs to be treated gentler than your regular clothing. Always read the care label on the
lingerie for proper washing instructions. Even if the item is machine washable, the gentle cycle is better and hand-washing 
definitely the best method. 
A hand-washing product is superior over regular detergent since it is formulated to be milder on the fabric.
And yes never, ever, dry your delicates in the dryer. 
Always lay flat on a towel until dry. Line drying is always the best 
choice since a hot dryer shortens the life of the fabric. 
However, if you use the dryer, set the controls on delicate. 
Use a mesh bag or mesh cage when washing lingerie in a machine. 
Hook all bras prior to washing. This will prevent them from
becoming twisted, and the wires from breaking during washing cycles.
For best results, pure silk lingerie should be dry-cleaned. 
However if you are washing silk then it should be hand washed in 
cold water and dried flat.    
Wash colors separately.  Steaming it is the recommended method 
of removing wrinkles. 
If a steamer is not available, you may iron your silk garments 
inside out, using the gentle heat setting. 
This works best on a damp garment. 
Do not twist or wring out your undergarments. 
Avoid heavy-duty stain removal products including soaking agents 
and bleaches for silks and stretch fabrics. 
These will reduce their life.
Cotton can withstand high temperatures and relatively aggressive detergents.
Chlorine bleach can be used safely on cotton whites but please 
don't bleach silk. Use color safe bleach on dyed cottons. 
Cotton fabrics wrinkle easily and may need frequent pressing. 
A higher heat setting is needed in the dryer to dry cotton. 
Cotton can be ironed with a hot iron, and does not scorch easily. 
Some linens are washable, while others are dry clean only. 
Washable linen apparel can be laundered easily and become 
softer with use. White linens should be dried in the sun to help 
them to keep their whiteness.
Linen fabrics may need frequent pressing. 
Take care of your lingerie as you would take care of any 
investment you make. By following the above suggestions, 
your lingerie will be one investment you can count on year after 
year. 
Only when the elasticity of your lingerie starts to give, or as the 
color starts to fade to gray and dingy, it is a good indication it is 
time to replace them. 
When your underwear no longer offers support, becomes 
uncomfortable or noticeably stretched out- its time to treat yourself 
to new ones.
Tip: Rotate your bras. Bras do not need to be laundered after every wearing, but you should try not to wear a bra two days in a row. 
A bra needs a day of rest after wearing to return to its original fit;
wearing one bra constantly puts a lot of stress on the fabrics and 
causes it to rapidly stretch out of shape and to lose its fit.
