       Spellbound Closes Its
               Doors
The lingerie store in Augusta Maine which has created quite a stir this past year with its live models, has closed.
According to owner Felicia Stockford, slow sales forced her to close Spellbound.
The reaction from the public and neighboring business was mixed after the store opened on Water Street last fall.
Police visited the store in response to complaints, but found nothing illegal. An officer said there's no law that bars the wearing of lingerie in public.
Stockford stopped using live models last month after one of them started receiving harassing phone calls.
She said she hopes to re-open her store in a new location in southern Maine.

Market for Plus Sized
  Clothing Soars 50%
The plus-size clothing market has jumped approximately 50% in five years, according to a recent report.
American women have been growing larger, the report said, and
plus-size clothing manufacturers have stepped up marketing efforts, culminating in a market worth about US$32m last year.
The research reveals that more than half of female respondents over 18 years old purchase plus-size clothing. With clothing chains like Torrid and Charming Shoppes (Lane Bryant, Catherine's, and Fashion Bug) continuing to expand their plus-size focused empires, department stores have also decided to raise the bar on their clothing offerings for this category. Kohl's has extended two of its private label lines, apt. 9 and Daisy Fuentes, to include extended sizes.
Celebrities have also helped to champion the growth of the plus-sized clothing movement. Rapper/actress Queen Latifah, supermodel Emme, and television personality Oprah have all presented more positive images of full-figured fashion in the media. Comedian Mo'Nique even launched the first-ever nationally televised plus-size beauty pageant last year.
The report estimates that the plus-size market will grow more than 10% in the next five years. In addition, more stores will look at offering more extended size options for consumers. There continues to be a great growth opportunity in the plus-size catalogue and internet sectors, it believes, and companies have a chance to increase their revenue in these areas.

The Wonderbra Lounge
Wonderbra Intimates, the creators of the push-up bra that fueled a nationwide frenzy, has spun a busty marketing campaign for its latest bra, the Wonderbra Light Lift.
The company is targeting 20- and 30-somethings by setting up a makeshift nightclubs that serve up bras instead of cocktails. The Wonderbra Lounge has been on a three-city tour for Wonderbra Lounge, which visited Fort Lauderdale, San Diego and Scottsdale, Ariz.
Wonderbra promoters hop clubs and restaurants and hand out invitations to the Wonderbra Lounge, where "bra-hostesses" offer visitors free Wonderbra Light Lift bras on trays. The lounge features hip-hop dance music, makeovers with artists, and an indulgence bar serving gourmet Belgian chocolates in the flavors "Sexy" and "Vigor."
Helpful hint to guys: The ladies who visit the Wonderbra Lounge leave with pictures of their experience because there's an instant photo booth inside.
Wonderbra's marketing tactic could prove effective if it prompts women to tout the product to their friends, said a national retail expert from a research and consulting firm in Columbus, Ohio.

Christensen is the New
        Face of Ultimo
Helena Christensen has been unveiled as the new face of lingerie line Ultimo.
The Danish beauty follows in the footsteps of models Penny Lancaster and Rachel Hunter in representing the brand.
Michelle Mone, founder of MJM International, which produces the popular bras, said Christensen always looks "amazing".
The model said she was happy to be working for entrepreneur Mone, who has successfully built up a multi-million-pound empire with her designs.
There was much speculation over who would face the brand after it was announced last year that Rachel Hunter, ex-wife of Rod Stewart, was stepping down.
Mone, 33, said: "Following on from such great brand ambassadors as Penny Lancaster and Rachel Hunter, we feel that Helena is the perfect choice for Ultimo.
"When I see Helena grace publications like Vogue I always comment on how amazing she looks - now I can't believe we have Helena representing Ultimo."

EU's Imposes Anti-Dumping
                Duties

The European Commission said it would slap temporary anti-dumping duties on Chinese and leather shoe imports as of April 7 to protect EU manufacturers from "unfair trade".
The duties are to be imposed gradually over five months and will rise to 16.8% for leather shoes from Vietnam and to 19.4% for leather shoes from China. Children's shoes are not covered by the measures.
"It is important that we act against unfair trade while encouraging legitimate and competitive from emerging economies," EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson said.
The commission said the duties were needed because Chinese and Vietnamese manufactures could count on state aid in the form of soft loans, tax breaks, low rents, fuzzy accounting, overlooking doubtful accounting and export incentives.
Those advantages allowed Chinese and Vietnamese exporters to sell shoes at below the cost of production without any state support and was therefore unfair, it said.
Mandelson called for the duty last month after finding evidence of dumping but his proposal divided member states who were unable to give clear backing to go ahead with the measures.
But because they did not agree to reject it either, Mandelson decided to go ahead with duty.
The duties risk straining trade relations with China after Brussels and Beijing put a spat over booming Chinese textile imports behind them last year only after much tough bargaining.
Facing a wave of cheap clothing imports from China after the end of international quotas, Mandelson had to negotiate new limits last year, which were quickly met and then had to be renegotiated.
That incident -- which became known as the "bra wars" -- revealed a deep rift between European manufacturers fearing Chinese competition and European retailers eager to get hold of cheap products.
The same division emerged again in the tussle over shoes, which has also highlighted a growing divide between member states preferring open trade relations with Asia and others wanting a more protectionist stance.
However, the commission warned against drawing parallels between the textile quotas and the shoe duties.
"The textile issue concerned fairly traded textile imports subject to a dramatic and sudden increase in volume," Mandelson's office said.  In contrast, "leather footwear is being state-subsidized and dumped", it said.

If that ever happens to me, just pull the plug."
She got up, unplugged the TV and threw out all of my beer ...........the witch

Fruit of the Loom Pays
           for Lying

Up to 28,000 Fruit of the Loom shareholders are in for a windfall after a federal judge approved two class-action settlements against the company.
The settlements, which total US$42m, are connected to lawsuits claiming former top officeholders lied to analysts in order to enhance the company’s stock.
The suits were brought to court by pension plan agencies plus stock buyers.
According to the settlement terms, affected stock buyers will receive between $1.01 and $4.07 per share, depending on when they bought the stock from the company.
Fruit of the Loom is staying silent on the issue. However, the ruling will come as a blow to the business, which has been working to cut costs after being bought of out bankruptcy in 2002.
