Charlotte Russe's Q2
Sales Up
Growing young women’s retailer Charlotte Russe said better-than-expected post-holiday selling helped boost same-store
sales by about 17% in the second quarter.
The same-store increase exceeded previous guidance of a low double-digit increase. In addition, net sales shot up 35% in the
quarterly period.
"We are very pleased given the better-than- expected progress… however, on a very disappointing note, the Rampage chain has
struggled due to missed trends and weakening overall performance,” said CEO Mark Hoffman.

Denver Hosts First Adult
Consumer Trade Show
by Deb Gibson of Arabesque
The Denver Convention Center was the venue for the mile high city’s first Sex and So Much More ‘adults only’ consumer trade show February 24 through 26th.
Combining educational seminars with Adult Film Star autograph sessions, Showcase Productions presented a show with something for everyone. The
vendors’ area was well lit, wide aisled and welcoming to attendees. With
attendance of approximately 19,000 people, vendors were kept busy demonstrating and selling their wares. Over fifty retailers and unique
manufacturers offered a wide variety of products and services.
There was plenty to entertain the crowds –lingerie and fetish fashion shows,
interactive stage shows where participants received prizes for performing various stunts, appearances by adult industry celebrities, and informative seminars on subjects like stripping for your partner, the finer points of pole dancing, or getting started in the home party business.
Kari Calder, show coordinator for Showcase Productions Inc
www.sexandsomuchmore.com was pleased with the receptiveness of the Denver adult public to the upscale adult trade show Showcase presented. “We welcome vendors of all things erotic at our shows and look forward to making next years show even more successful.” says Kari. “We are finalizing details for the next cities trade shows. Watch our website for posting of dates and information.”

Shirley of Hollywood Adds
More Plus Sizes
Shirley of Hollywood is expanding yet again. H.O.T. Hosiery, initially released
as a sensuously packaged missy collection is now doing plus sizes. You’ll now have plus sized body-stockings, pantyhose, playful sets and more. And with Shirley of Hollywood you’ll know a plus size item is fitted individually to a plus size figure. As Director of Design, Dana Walczuk quotes “the first patterns we worked with from our hosiery mill were way off”, “we completely re-worked the patterns to a true plus size fit”, “Service, quality, fit and fashion are what
we’re all about”.
H.O.T. Hosiery is not the only collections slated for release at the upcoming Rio Las Vegas show.
Shirley of Hollywood will also be releasing an expanded H.O.T. Lingerie collection, the full Intimate Attitudes plus size collection for 2006/2007, as well as Risque 2006/2007. “Our design team has been cranking away at 100 miles an hour, and it’s all about to be released to the public in Las Vegas” “See you there.”

The Cinderella Bra
Cinderella now has a crystal bra to go with her glass slippers.
The "Cinderella Bra" is made with glass and Swarovski crystals, and carefully hand-finished by skilled craftsmen.
The beads are sewn on the sides, center panel and straps. Angel patterns were also etched onto the cups.

Although it's called the "Cinderella Bra", don't expect Price Charming to come knocking on your door to try it out for size.
As of April 8, the one-of-a-kind bra will be on display in Robinsons at Raffles City.
Also on display is the Pearl bra specially flown in from Japan. It is valued at more than $207,000.
3,000 quality pearls have been carefully selected to decorate it.
These uplifting designs have been brought to Singapore as part of the Singapore Fashion Week.

3 More Bangladesh Factories
At Risk
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association
(BGMEA)
has identified three clothing factories as highly risky structures that might collapse without warning.
BGMEA said the factories, Fame Gar-ments at Rasulbagh in Mohakhali, Bari Apparels and Anzir Apparels at Bypile in
Savar, could fall
down at any time, potentially killing hundreds of workers.
BGMEA has issued notices to the factories’ owners urging them to either move to different premises or renovate the buildings.
The three factories, which make jumpers and woven goods, were singled out from a total of 169 inspected as part of an ongoing
push to improve the safety standards of Bangladesh’s garment factories.
At least 70 workers have been killed in garment factory incidents in the country since the start of 2005.
Where to
Live After
Retirement
As we all know, sometimes we come face to face with the fact that it may be time to relocate. The big question is: where to? Here are some tips.
You can live in Phoenix, Arizona where.....
1. You are willing to park 3 blocks away because you found shade.
2. You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.
3. You can drive for 4 hours in one direction and never leave town.
4. You have over 100 recipes for Mexican food.
5. You know that "dry heat" is comparable to what hits you in the face when you open your oven door.
6. The 4 seasons are: tolerable, hot, really hot, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!
You can Live in California where...
1. You make over $250,000 and you still can't afford to buy a house.
2. The fastest part of your commute is going down your driveway.
3. You know how to eat an artichoke.
4. You drive your rented Mercedes to your neighborhood block party.
5. When someone asks you how far something is, you tell them how long it will take to get there rather than how many miles away it is.
You can Live in New York City where...
1. You say "the city" and expect everyone to know you mean Manhattan.
2. You can get into a four-hour argument about how to get from Columbus Circle to Battery Park, but can't find Wisconsin on a map.
3. You think Central Park is "nature,"
4. You believe that being able to speak at people in their own language makes you multi-lingual.
5. You've worn out a car horn.
6. You think eye contact is an act of aggression.
